Next Man Utd Manager: 4 Candidates To Replace Sir Alex Ferguson

When Ferguson does leave the club, the United board face a daunting challenge - who will replace Fergie?

1. David Moyes

Since David Moyes joined Everton from Preston North End in 2002, he has done an undoubtedly fantastic job. On a shoestring budget, he has taken the Toffees from being a club languishing in the bottom half of England's top division, to a team that is fighting for European places season after season and often finishing higher in the division than their arch rivals and free spending - Liverpool. Moyes, 49, guided Everton to 4th place in the Premier Division season of 2004/5 and in the past 6 years his team have come no lower than 8th position. Under Chairman Bill Kenwright, Everton simply don't have the financial prowess other teams have, and one can only wonder what David Moyes would do with a huge budget and a squad already bursting with young talent. Alex Ferguson said of Moyes: "David has had to contend with not having a strong financial structure. He has to get the best out of the players he has had available and has done an amazing job...he is a first class manager".
