QPR Want To Sack Joey Barton?
QPR could fire Joey Barton if he is found guilty of a bar fight.
QPR could fire Joey Barton if he is found guilty of a bar fight. The midfielder was arrested yesterday after a brawl outside a Liverpool night club but has since been released on police bail. The player has made headlines for all the wrong reasons throughout the course of his career. He stubbed out a cigarette in youth team player Jamie Tandys eye at a Christmas party in 2004 whilst at Manchester City. He was also jailed for 6 months after admitting to assault and affray in Liverpool in 2008 during his time at Newcastle United. He was recently banned for the first three months of the 2012/13 season after being handed a 12 game suspension for his red card madness against his former team Manchester City in the final game of last season. He elbowed Carlos Tevez, kicked Sergio Aguero and aimed a head-butt at team captain Vincent Kompany. That incident proved to be the final straw for the QPR hierarchy, who are understood to have wanted to dismiss him then, though FA rules dictate a suspension is not an offence worthy of dismissal. QPR would have had to have coughed up somewhere in the region of £11 million to rid themselves of Barton. However, if the player is charged with affray, the Loftus Road outfit could fire him for gross misconduct and for breach of his contract and would not have to pay compensation.
