Southampton Transfers: Ryan Bertrand Signing On Permanent Deal?

Chelsea star sticking around for good.

Southampton's business on deadline day was supposed to be limited to the loan signing of Filip Djuricic from Benfica, but there's now a hint that the south coast team might be making one of their current loan signings into a permanent one. According to Simon Peach of the Press Association, the club are working on a deal to finalise Ryan Bertrand's permanent signing from Chelsea. The player has seen his first team options at Chelsea limited and this would be seventh time lucky in terms of turning a loan into a full-time move. Last season he spent time at Aston Villa, and he has previously had stints at Reading, Forest and Norwich, but was drawn back to Bertrand, where he would always struggle to push their big money signings down the pecking order despite his ability. Will the deal go through before the end of the transfer window? If it doesn't it would seem likely that Southampton will look to complete the business in the summer at the latest. By all accounts it's a good move for all parties.
