Spurs News: Forgotten Man Khumalo Close To Return

The injured South African is set to return to Spurs training.

Tottenham Hotspur's forgotten man Bongani Khumalo is set to return to training with the club following a spell on the sidelines. The 27-year-old central defender ruptured his patella tendon in his country's emphatic 5-0 friendly defeat to Brazil at Soccer City on March the 5th. Having signed for Spurs from Supersport United in his native South Africa in January of 2011, following an impressive World Cup in his homeland in 2010, Khumalo has had very little impact at White Hart Lane - indeed, he is yet to make a single competitive first team appearance. Khumalo has been loaned out to Preston North End, Reading, PAOK and Doncaster Rovers in his time at Spurs and the current South African captain hasn't done enough in any of those stints to convince that he is worthy of a permanent move.

However, Khumalo is on the way back and will rejoin Spurs, according to his agent Glyn Binkin, who had this to say to KickOff.com:

He is two to three weeks away from starting full-time training. He is a Tottenham Hotspur player and there is no truth to reports of him leaving. He has a contract with the club until next season.

So what do you make of this? Had you completely forgotten Khumalo existed? Is it amazing that he's still at White Hart Lane? Should Spurs get rid of him as soon as possible? Or does he deserve another opportunity to impress, what with there being a new manager at the club?
