Spurs Transfer News: Christian Eriksen Signs For £11.5 Million

BBC. The 21-year-old becomes the London club's seventh summer signing and arrives on the same day as Romanian defender Vlad Chiriches, 23, and Argentina striker Erik Lamela, 21. The trio of transfers comes as Gareth Bale agreed personal terms with Real Madrid as he nears his world-transfer-record move to the Spanish giants. Spurs revealed the successful signing of Eriksen via their official Twitter page, writing:

"We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Christian Eriksen."
The Denmark international played 161 times for Ajax and scored 32 times since joining in 2008 from Danish side Odense Boldklub. Eriksen has won three successive Eredivisie championships with the Amsterdam club and was voted Dutch Football Talent of the Year for 2011. He had entered the final year of his contract at Ajax and was also linked with a move to Liverpool, until Spurs were given permission to talk with the midfielder earlier this week. Eriksen will now link up with his former team-mate Jan Vertonghen at White Hart Lane, after the duo spent four seasons together at the Amsterdam Arena. This recent capture takes manager Andre Villas-Boas' spending to just under £105 million as Tottenham prepare for life without last season's Double PFA Player of the Year Bale.
