Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Plotting £15 Million Move For Javier Hernandez

Mirror. The big spending Londoners have approached United about the 25-year-old, who has yet to play for the champions this season due to a thigh injury. Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas knows he needs a new finisher and there are few better options than the Mexican, who enjoyed an excellent strike-rate last term despite making just 22 league appearances. Villas-Boas could sell Jermain Defoe before the transfer deadline next Monday, with the England forward being chased by several clubs - one of them QPR, whose manager Harry Redknapp wants to be reunited with the 30-year-old. The White Hart Lane outfit have also been trying to offload Emmanuel Adebayor for much of the summer, with little success so far. Hernandez would be a more than capable replacement for either of them and would help take some of the goal-scoring burden off new club-record signing Roberto Soldado, who has scored four times in three games so far. Spurs are driving a hard bargain for the man known as Chicharito, and only want to pay £7-£8 million, but United have told them the asking price is double that, and want a fee closer to the £15 million mark. Red Devils manager David Moyes needs to make a quick decision on Hernandez and, with just five days left of the transfer window, would have very little time to seek a replacement.
