Spurs Transfer News: Tottenham Want £15 Million Christian Benteke?

Daily Star. The White Hart Lane club look set to replace both Jermaine Defoe and Emanuel Adebayor as their two main strikers, and could bring in as many as three marksmen, according to the same report. Villa's top goalscorer Benteke is understood to top Andre Villas-Boas' list after an impressive debut season in the Premier League which has seen the Belgian net 14 times this term. The forward is understood to have made up his mind to leave the struggling club back in February, and if 18th placed Villa get relegated, it is very unlikely he will stick around for Championship football next season. Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy realises Paul Lambert will be in a far weaker bargaining position if his side go down, and is hoping an offer of £15 million will be enough to persuade the Villa Park outfit to part with their star man. Villa would be more than doubling the £7 million they paid Genk for him back in 2011. Spurs are keen to get a deal wrapped up as soon as possible to avoid entering a battle with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Inter Milan, who are all understood to be admirers of the player. If all goes to plan, Villas-Boas will have a brand new strike force next term. Internacional€™s Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao, 23, is still on his wish list, while Spurs will cut their losses and sell £5m Adebayor to help fund a summer transfer spree in a bid to crack the top four.
