Spurs Transfers: Tottenham Haven't Given Up On Destro
Roma's Italian striker is still on Spurs' radar.
According to Italian news publication Messaggero, Tottenham Hotspur are still keeping tabs on Roma's young Italian international striker Mattia Destro. The White Hart Lane club have been linked with a move for the striker for much of the summer, but interest appeared to have cooled and very little has been said regarding Destro's potential move to the English capital in recent weeks. The path for Destro's potential move to Spurs has been cleared after Wolfsburg signed former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner. Wolfsburg had been credited with an interest in Destro too but, now that they've signed Bendtner, Spurs would be unchallenged in their pursuit of the player. Essentially, this means Arsenal could potentially have inadvertently aided their bitter rivals by allowing Bendtner to leave when his contract expired at the end of last season. Destro scored 13 goals in 20 appearances last season - a record far more impressive than any of Tottenham's current strikers - and, with only the inconsistent Emmanuel Adebayor, the unproven (in the Premier League, at least) Roberto Soldado and the inexperienced Harry Kane on their books, Spurs may still bolster their striking ranks before the current transfer window slams shut by bringing in Destro. The striker has five caps for Italy, in which he has scored one goal - against Malta in his country's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign. Do you think Mattia Destro would be a good signing for Spurs? Should they be looking to sign someone else? If so, who? Or should they be satisfied with the strikers they already have?
