Stoke Transfer News: Potters Set For Sensational Bojan Move

Barcelona striker set to be joined by Ronaldinho?!

Peter Dejong/AP/Press Association ImagesPeter Dejong/AP/Press Association ImagesDespite having a reputation as an anti-footballing site built on a stoic, defensive approach to football built under the stewardship of former boss Tony Pulis, Stoke City might well be about to pull off one of the transfer coups of the summer (and indeed of their history) as they've lined up highly-rated Barcelona striker Bojan. The Spanish national, whose Serbian father was also a professional footballer, was played 117 games for Barcelona, as well as representing both the Spanish and Catalan international sides, though he seems out of favour at Barcelona, and has spent much of the last five years out on loan - including a complex semi-permanent move to Roma. Last year, Bojan played for Ajax, helping the club to another league championship and scoring 5 goals in 32 games overall for the club, but that seemingly is not enough for the Dutch side to take up their option of a second year loan. If Stoke can pull off the deal - which looks a real possibility - the former wonderkid would add creativity and flair to the side, though he has been accused of drifting out of games, and he is noted for his weakness in finishing. On his day however, he undoubtedly has the ability to change games and his acquisition would represent a considerable statement of intent by Stoke, who have already bolstered their squad with the signings of Mame Biram Diouf, Steve Sidwell, Phil Bardsley and Dionatan Teixeira. Intriguingly Stoke are also favourites to sign former Barcelona attacker Ronaldinho: you can get odds of just 4/1 that the Brazilian will bring what remains of his samba skill to Stoke.
