Tottenham Transfer News: Luka Modric Signs For Real Madrid

Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has completed his transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid.

the BBC reported that the transfer fee was in the region of £30m. The partnership agreement was described on Tottenham's club website as: "the two clubs working together in respect of players, coaching and commercial relationships." Modric, who starred for Croatia at this year's European Championships, scored four league goals for Spurs last season and notched up six assists - helping the club to fourth in the final standings. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said: "Luka has been a terrific player for us and, while we preferred not to part with him, we are pleased that it is to Real Madrid, a club with which we now look forward to sharing a long and productive partnership." Real Madrid announced the singing on their club website, along with the details of his arrival: "In the club€™s Boardroom he was met and welcomed by club executives, headed by Florentino Pérez, and presented with a series of gifts: a replica of the stadium, a watch, the Real Madrid shirt with the commemorative date of his presentation and the fountain pen used to sign his contract." The statement continued: "He was also presented with a cuddly toy and a child€™s Madrid shirt for his son." Modric could make his La Liga debut this Sunday (2 Sep.), when Madrid face Granada CF at the Bernabeu.
