UFC On ESPN: Covington Vs. Lawler Results

Was Colby Covington able to bring the chaos or did Robbie Lawler prove to be too ruthless?

Colby Covington has booked himself a title fight against UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, following a dominant victory over Robbie Lawler.

Covington used a mixture of relentless wrestling and probing strikes to beat his opponent convincingly over five rounds. By keeping Lawler guessing as to where his attack was going to come from, the 31-year old was able to make the former champion overthink and not follow his gameplan. It was a fantastic win for Chaos, who has now got himself a shot at the belt against Usman later this year.

As for Lawler, it was a hugely disappointing performance from the 37-year old veteran, who many believed would be able to put up a stiff challenge to Covington's pace. However, he simply didn't throw or land enough strikes to really even put Covington on the backfoot.

Hometown hero Jim Miller made short work of fellow UFC veteran Clay Guida in the co-main event, only needing 57 seconds to lock in a brutal guillotine choke. Although it didn't even last a minute, their fight was still full of action as Guida landed a punch that made Miller's leg buckle from beneath him.

Despite being rocked, Miller managed to steady himself within moments, before landing a crushing right hook that made Guida stumble. Sensing danger, Guida shot for a takedown to avoid anymore of the New Jersey native's powerful shots. However, his takedown attempt proved to be his undoing, as Miller latched onto his neck, secured the guillotine choke and put The Carpenter to sleep in front of everyone in the Prudential Center.

German lightweight, Nasrat Haqparast had an extremely impressive performance against Brazilian striker Joaquim Silva. The 23-year old Tristar protege has been highly touted for awhile and it showed in this fight.

His footwork was outstanding and he had a pinpoint accurate left hand that landed on Silva's jaw at will. It would be the same left hand that would floor Silva in the second round, as Silva pounced on him and landed some violent ground and pound before the referee signalled for the fight to be over.
