West Ham United take on Fulham in the early afternoon Premier League clash at Upon Park today. Kick-off time is at 12.45pm and the match will be screened live on Sky Sports in the UK.
England striker Andy Carroll is likely to make his Hammers debut after completing a season-long loan move from parent club Liverpool this week. The striker, who cost Liverpool a British record fee of £35 million back in January 2010, re-teams with his old Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce and good friend Kevin Nolan, hoping that his chemistry can once again provide a deadly partnership in the Premier League.
Missing for West Ham today will be left-back George McCartney (ankle) and midfielder Jack Collison (knee). Also facing late fitness tests and major doubts are central defenders James Collins (calf) and Winston Reid (knee).
Allarydce is likely to recall the likes of Jussi Jaaskelainen, Guy Demel, Mark Noble, Mohamed Diame and Matt Jarvis who were all rested for the midweek Capital One Cup win over Crewe.
Fulham boss Martin Jol will likewise welcome back the players he rested for the midweek Capital One Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. Striker Mladen Petric will likely return after recovering from his slight knock and Mahamdou Diarra will be recalled.
John Arne-Risse returns following his muscular injury but Bryan Ruiz, who pulled up with a hamstring injury during the warm-up at Hillsborough, is a major doubt. Phillipe Senderos (foot) and Kerim Frei (pelvis) are still ruled out.
For Fulham, Clint Dempsey has now left for Tottenham Hotspur whilst for West Ham, they secured Yossi Benayoun’s loan-move to Upton Park too late yesterday to be registered for this game.
