Bench To Launch New Autumn/Winter Collection

Plus your chance to win 2x VIP tickets to see Jess Glynne at the Round House in London #LoveMyHood

Streetwear fashion label Bench has teamed up with chart topping singer songwriter Jess Glynne to launch #LoveMyHood. This is a campaign to encourage artists, bloggers, and other social and online gurus to provide cultural guides to their cities, to celebrate and give recognition to the local influences which impact and help shape the work that they create. To celebrate Bench's new 2015 Autumn/Winter collection, they have worked with Jess to put together the above video for her to give an insight and thanks to her own hometown of London. It is a chance for her to honour her own surroundings and salute the differing moods and areas of the city. Readers are also being given the chance to enter a competition to win 2x VIP tickets to see Jess' gig at The Round House in London on 4th November, including travel and accommodation for 3 nights, £300 spending money, and an additional £250 to spend on Bench clothing. To enter the competition, simply watch the Autumn/Winter €™15 video and then head on over to Bench.co.uk to answer a simple question relating to what you've seen. From its humble beginnings in the late 80s, Bench has grown from being a relatively niche male orientated skateboarding and BMX brand, to a genuine world wide heavy weight in the global fashion scene. With roots entrenched in Manchester's rich music scene of the time, a golden era which spawned some of the most influential bands to ever come out of the England such as The Smiths, Stone Roses, and New Order, Bench has continued to look towards supporting rising stars and upcoming musical talent. This has been reflected in initiatives such as Dpercussion Festival throughout the 00's, Warehouse Project, and in its partnership with musical festivals around the world such as Melt! in Germany, Nuit Sonores in France, and Sonar in Spain. Bench announced Jess as their brand ambassador earlier in the year, a testament to her rise to stardom on 2014 that saw her provide vocals for hit track 'My Love' from Route 94, and also appear on Clean Bandit's 'Rather Be'. Both of which debuted at No 1 in the UK chart and went on to have success through the rest of Europe and the US, and the latter of which won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. Since the turn of the year Jess has gone from strength to strength and has seen further success this time with her solo work. Building on a solid debut single 'Right Here' in 2014, her second single 'Hold My Hand' released in March 2015, entered the chart at No 1 and stayed there for 3 weeks. Following single 'Don't Be So Hard On Yourself' continued the trend of sitting pretty at the top of the chart, and debut album 'I Cry When I Laugh' similarly achieved No 1 spot in the album chart. With their coinciding musical interests, Bench and Jess have also teamed up with VICE's dance music channel, THUMP, to produce a documentary which takes a look at the influence of British artists on the US music scene - The Brit Invasion: A Film Hosted by Jess Glynne Ever since the 60€™s and 70€™s when bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones progressed past the UK's shores and in to US stardom, British artists have had a huge influence in American music is shaped. Most recently this has been seen in the sphere of EDM - Electronic Dance Music - which originally rose to prominence through the house, techno, and garage scenes of Chicago and New York. We are now experiencing a period of reimagining, where British artists such as Gorgon City, Clean Bandit, MNEK and critically acclaimed Sam Smith have had great success of the American Billboard, with work that has seen a distinctly British slant put on what was once a mainstream American sound. To take a look at this latest instance of British ascendancy within the US market, Jess' documentary sees her take a 48 hour journey through this on-going trend. It features interviews with notable figures within the EDM world from both sides of the Atlantic, which an examination in to how the US dance scene is looking taking shape for the future.
