5 Crazy Sci-Fi Projects That Google Is Working On

Proving that Google is trying its best to save the world... or take it over.

Google takes quite a lot of stick these days. While it's improved our lives through services like Google Drive, Calendar, and (sorry Bing) the best search engine in the world, the company is also known for its questionable privacy policies. It's no secret that the company has access to - and uses - pretty much all the data we store on its services - including searches and emails - and that makes a lot of people uneasy. But in recent years Google has become far more than just a online services provide, working on a whole load of outlandish science and tech projects that could change our lives in ways previously thought unimaginable. We're not just talking about consumer technology here either. The company has committed millions of dollars to fighting cancer, DNA studies, and other ambitious ventures. To this end, Google recently founded Alphabet, a parent company which will keep all of Google's different ventures separate. The first new company within this is Life Sciences (formerly part of Google X), which will be home to most of Google/Alphabet's seismic healthcare projects. Google's hyper-expansion into uncharted science and tech territories makes you wonder whether the company's end-goal is profit or whether the profit is just a means to funding projects that can change the world for the better. It's probably healthy to remain a little skeptical of Google's ultimate intentions, but it's hard not to utter a little gasp of excitement about these 5 impressive projects that the tech giant is working on.
