This past week Apple released a new iPhone, and despite the fact that the new iPhone 4S looks remarkably similar to its last offering it sold 4m devices in 3 days!
The question is why? Despite the fact there is a plethora of innovation and hi-spec choice in the smartphone market the half bitten, glossy silver Apple still attracts the masses. It’s smooth sailing from here on right? We all made our smartphone choice in favour of Apple surely?
Not so fast, things are rarely simple in the smartphone world, after all there’s an oddly shaped green Android taking bites out of apples… Em Apple.
You could say it’s a battle of the ages, greater than Churchill vs Hitler, Coke vs Pepsi, Freddy vs Jason all combined….. At least in the smartphone world anyway (the late Steve Jobs once said he wanted to destroy Android and would spend all of Apple’s money in the process if need be, so you get the idea).
But if you’ve already invested in a hefty contract for the iPhone 4S, you may be regretting that decision after hearing about Android’s latest offerings. Both the Motorola Droid RAZR and the Galaxy Nexus pack super hi-specs, as well as the latest Android 4.0 OS.
That is unless you’re one of those people that simply have to own an Apple product just because it reflects your lifestyle or it’s stylistically in tune…… Blah blah blah. For the rest you may have very good reason to think your missing out if your one of those 4m early adopters.
After all the Android OS now powers the lion’s share of smartphones, Google’s mobile OS gained its enormous market share in part by distributing its OS across multiple third party manufacturers. The obvious downside to this third party approach is that there is no definitive Android device of choice. Some have better cameras than others, some prefer HTC’s Sense software overlay, others Samsung’s. Inevitably this leads to a hierarchy of quality, for many (like me) this is very confusing.
Apple Green With Envy?

Clearly, Apple does still maintain advantages over Android, partly because of the clarity of choice issues with Android, but also better music, movies and streaming video options.
Indeed Apple seemed to answer the Android onslaught with the iPhone 4S, and even though it wasn’t the Android destroying Überphone, many were fantasising over with the iPhone 5, reviews were pretty positive.
But many tended to see the 4S more as a decent update, with features such as its highly regarded new camera and the voice-activated assistant, Siri, and less on what wasn’t on show: A competitive 4-inch screen, with a proper home screen, fast 4G network capability etc.
Android 4.0 vs iOS 5
When Google recently announced they were to release an Android update called Ice Cream Sandwich (continuing the trend of naming their OS after deserts), for the first time, it showed a desire by Android to unify the look and feel of the OS across phones, just like that of the iOS.
Android 4.0 not only attempts to keep up with the iOS in terms of unified experience, its also looking to offer something more:
You can now place and re-size widgets on your home screen without going into apps. You can organise your special contacts into one nice folder. You can see your mobile data usage visually. There’s also some nifty features like a barometer (could create some interesting apps) and an app that allows you to unlock a phone with your face!
iPhone 4S vs Galaxy Nexus and the Motorola Droid RAZR

But ultimately it’s all about the actual phones right? And you cant deny how impressive the 4S looks on paper, so how does Android’s latest smartphone efforts stack up, well let’s see:
The iPhone’s 3.5-inch display is tiny compared to both the 4.65-inch Galaxy Nexus and the 4.3 RAZR’s screen (both are higher resolution) also while physically larger, the Androids offerings are both thinner and lighter than the iPhone 4S!
iPhone 4S specs: 800MHz dual-core processor; 512MB RAM; 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage; 8MP rear-facing and VGA front-facing cameras; LED flash; 1080p video recording.
Galaxy Nexus specs: 1.2GHz dual-core processor; 1GB RAM; 16GB or 32GB storage; 5MP rear-facing and 1.3MP front-facing cameras; LED flash; 1080p video recording;
Motorola Droid RAZR specs: The RAZR is similarly impressive when it comes to specs with 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display and 1GB RAM
It’s hard to argue with the facts right? iPhone 4S is surely already behind the curve?
Obviously the title of this article was meant to be provocative, are Apple really scared? Most likely not, will Apple die-hards really be looking on with envy and regret? Well it depends on why they choose the phone. For many, and according to a recent article in the Telegraph the ready made iPhone design and interface simply makes them happier than the more customisable Android’s offerings.
But for the rest of us, things are very interesting, there are very real choices for our next phone upgrades and the winner isn’t clear cut.
But if I absolutely positively had to put money on a winner….
Well it has to be Google green. Where would you put yours?
Both the Motorola RAZR and the Galaxy Nexus are available in November.
The iPhone 4S is available now

google is the master when it comes to a operating system with features similar to the apple iso, the difference between the 2 companies is the andorid software is on every new and upcoming phone and the prices range from £49.99 to £499.99 while the iphone retails on monthly contracts or spend a big chunk of your hard earned cash on a apple iphone 4s for £500 plus googles android can only get bigger and better… people that have owned a iphone are switching to a android smartphone for a fraction of the cost
Once you use a iPhone there is no going back friend.
Thats a good comment, but i started 4 years ago on android, i some how didnt do what everyone else did and buy an iphone. Im useing a galaxy note at present. And to be brutally honest, useing an iphone for my boss recently it was like a little toy phone. My phone is a mini pc once bitten you cant use anything else especially an over rated iphone
“Once you use a iPhone there is no going back friend.”
Just went the road from iPhone to Android and must say I’m so pleased with it. I have the Google Nexus S and it’s been a delight.
I did, and I prefer my android actually
I saw a new Android phone yesterday…It was HUGE and heavy. It was awful. I would never carry a phone with a 4 inch screen or larger. I hope Apple does not get bigger. When you have had the best (Apple) getting anything else…IS called Regression.
It’s a question of class. If we had the money to buy both, we would choose the iPhone. It’s been that way since Apple began. Furthermore, don’t pay too much attention to clock speeds, it is not an indicator of performance unless the other specifications and cpu design are the same. And better architecture will always outperform a brute force approach; the architecture of an Android depends on the hardware – a device only runs as fast as its slowest component will allow. Then there is a question of who do you trust more? I feel Apple are more serious about privacy and safety.
Your article is great, but is let down by phrases like this: “to think your missing out if your one of those 4m early adopters” – you need to speak with your editor, or we won’t take your points seriously.
Yeah right. Bottom line is that Apple is quality the rest is crap. Try buying their product and stop wasting your money.
one of the first sentences i read when i sat down to my Apple news this afternoon was “Not a unknown with Apple.” not 5 minutes later, here i am reading “when it comes to a operating system” and “once you use a iPhone.”
wow! does anyone speak English anymore?
I own an ipad 2 and ipod touch. I was strongly considering an iphone this year but I couldn’t pull the trigger on the purchase. Apple is clearly on the defensive now instead of on the innovative side. I couldn’t believe how much trouble and problems i had trying to download ios 5 on my ipad 2. There have been bugs with the tablet ever since I have loaded the update. The Google 4.0 operating system is going to blow ios 5 out of the competition. I don’t know if any one noticed it but there are some Palm features built into this device (Google hire some of the web os developers this last year to smooth Android out and give it hardware acceleration) this OS looks super smooth and I can’t wait to get this on my Motorola Xoom and Samsung galaxy tab. Times are a changing Appleonians, the little Green Android is giving you the middle finger and laughing.
I hear everybody reuting for their devices but the proof is in the pudding, Androids Samsung Galaxy Prime destroys the Apple 4S or any later Apple mobile devices for that matter. Proof. On youtube just type in “Galaxy Nexus Prime VS Apple 4S” for real comparisons and see how much faster and smoother the Nexus Prime Ice Cream Is, its embarrassing the 4S. Now truly I’ve actually ONLY owned Google Mobile Devices and I’ve experienced playing with an Apple device for a few days, it doesn’t compare to an Android experience, Android is more fun and gives me a true desktop experience away from the PC. It is amazing. On the contrary, I have to give a HIGH FIVE to Apple SIRI. It is impressive but it has it kinks, but notice that Samsung Voice Talk feature isn’t that different and yet its very reliable in the same sense. Look, I LOVE Android w/ Samsung. They’re doing a great job. BTW Android has over 56% of the mobile Market Shares Worldwide and now has knocked a dent in the Tablet market by dropping Apple from 97 percent to 67 percent in under a year and a half. WOW!! THAT SAYS A LOT. ACTUALLY IT SAYS ALL. (winks)
the price and other phone hardware specs are irrelevant
its the software
unless i can port all my apps over to android i will never switch
and neither will anyone else with a brain
mmm it’s just my opinion, but bigger does not necessarily mean better? *enter thats what she said joke* I’ve only had an iPhone for 2 weeks but I’m extremely happy with it, it never lags nor crashes, unlike my friends SII (though it might differ from phone to phone)
you like samsung galaxy s 2 but you love iphone(any iPhone)
and i agree ruby`s idea
Why does every care so much about the speed of the processor I its not like the apps are really gonna be that much better.
1. People care about the specs because it is what runs the software, people multitask. Why do people care about the engine of their car? 2. Android has many more options, TONS of people are switching to Android over iPhone. 3. Android phones have many manufacturers which gives options of phone size, style, & price. 4. Do I really need to say more?
iphone is a iphone dude
no one can compare
I did not completely read through the article. I also have not read all the comments. So, I must admit that I am going at this a bit blind. I work for a cell phone retailer and sell smart phones all day every day. I have in the past used blackberries and Androids and I am currently using an iPhone 4. Before this I was using the Motorola Atrix. Apple is smart, pure and simple. If you look at their computers the hardware often seems less impressive than it does for PC’s but that Macbook will last years longer than the average PC laptop will while running newer and newer software. I am a huge google fan and love the philosophy of the company as well. However, Apple just has a good, clean design with the iPhone. The phone itself is stylish, more so than just about any Android phone on the market. The screen may be smaller than the average Android screen however Apple is brilliant with screen real estate. Also, the phone is just simple. While I am a geek and have no issue running around and through technology, the average person using a smart phone for their business or whatever is usually not. Until Android becomes a lot easier and smoother to use with considerably less bugs, standardized updates and phones that start looking a lot better they’ll have a long way to go. The reason why Android has become so large globally is because with older versions of Android it doesn’t take a lot of hardware to run. So globally this has become the cheapest smart phone to manufacture. I do hope that when Ice Cream Sandwich is widely available that Android will be a more powerful contender. Until then, Apple will still remain a big dog in the smart phone world.
My first smart phone was android, my peps consider me a bit of a tech head, so when I moved to apple 4s there was cry’s of why, well simply put it beats android hands down. For me battery life is good screen is amazing camera is 8mp and is good enough for me not to take my compact out any more, the thing that let android down for me was battery life I mean why dose any body need or use live wallpaper. Had android for 4 years never used it once. The one thing I do miss is navigation (Come on apple you know you can) but, there are so many things that apple does better 1 example is operating system updates the minuet there is a operating system update you download it simple,s.
All those big specs doesn’t matter, because Apple is able to do everything with only 512 MB of RAM and 800 MHz processor that all other competitors are trying to do with higher spec devices. This itself tells how far ahead Apple’s design is. And as smartphone start playing bigger roles in our life, security will become bigger concern. We all know there are malware for Android but iOS is rock solid and secure, again Apple beats Android. I’ll switch away from Apple only if they stop making new devices (LOL), or if others comes up with better designed and secure mobile OS
Your point about specs not being the most important factor from the user decision is valid, and it is quite amazing what Apple can do with so little RAM. This is nothing that can’t be mimicked elsewhere through careful memory management, however.
Your statement about security is something I take issue to. Whilst an open system does seem more prone to malware, you have to remember that Android apps must declare *exactly* what phone features they use, whether that be access your call log, using the Internet, GPS etc. This information is provided up-front to a user when they install the app, and if they have an app like LBE Privacy Guard they can revoke privileges on-the-fly.
Apple, on the other hand, grants all permissions to any app and justify this by saying their “vetting process” will stop malicious apps. How can I trust that? There have been cases where apps have slipped through this net – Apple’s walled garden is no Eden! On Android I can intercept any permission request and reject it. The reason you can’t on iPhone is because they want things to “just work”.
On the same point of security, how do I then trust whatever an app maker has declared is the whole truth on an Android phone. At least Apple verifies what an App is using.
VKD – When you develop for Android you have a manifest file, which declares what features you applications want to use. If you don’t declare you want access to the Internet, and then try to, the phone won’t grant it. The Marketplace uses these permission declarations and displays them in a user-friendly manner.
I’m in no way saying this is perfect. A few weeks ago some people found out how to trick the system on the HTC Sensation (which was promptly patched up).
My point is that permissions to use features is opt-in on Android, whereas on iOS everything is allowed. I’d rather that I had the control of what goes on on my phone, and not some company. Apple wants the opposite, they want to take care of everything for the user – and hey, that works for some people. Just not for me – I like to think I’m careful about where my data goes :)
I find it amusing, VKD, how wannabes like you pretend to be nerdy, but don’t understand the underlying system. Let me tell you why your are wrong:
1. Android is based off of the Linux 2.6 kernel, and it’s GUI is built with a combination of XML and Java. Java runs in a virtual machine and is interpretative, making it a slower code, but one extremely flexible and easy to port. Google has done a fantastic job getting it to run so smoothly.
2. Android needs it for multitasking. Contrary to popular belief, iOS doesn’t really multitask. When you hit the home button, what actually happens is your the app is suspended. A function is called where the developer has a few “services” to choose from. One is playing music, another is “requesting time to complete an operation”, sometimes granted, sometimes denied, but when granted, only about 10 minutes. Android, by contrast, has complete multitasking, processes continue. Also, there are other services running, not the same as iOS ones, as well as widgets, live wallpapers, etc.
3. It is ludicrous to say that iOS has the “retina display”. Super AMOLED is much better, for it looks better than the Reyina with only 800 x 400 in a 4.3″ screen, and the HTC Rezound has a 720p display.
4. Security–look at the reviews for an app. If it has a good rating, it’s fine. Also, Sam is right. When you need to access intents, you have to put them in an XML manifest file. When the application first starts, it asks you to grant it permissions.
Yor are absolutely right.. Spec sheets tells only a part of the story.. Its how a product performs in realtime tells u the whole story.. What apple does with their so called inferior hardware only apple knows.. But the end result is that u hav the most amazing fast nd smooth user experience in ur hand thanks to the apple ios.. On the other hand android suffers serious bugs right from day 1 you start using the product.. In a days operation u might get as many as 10 force close of applications which is very very rare in ios.. I m a former android fanboy nd that i was until i got my hands on the iphone 4.. It felt like it was something from not around here.. Sorry if i m being a bit sarcastic here but really i cant help it.. Everything started to look better on the iphone.. Its performance was unparrelled.. It was amazing.. Now i m using a iphone 4s 32gb.. My advice to all the android fanboys please try the ios if u havent tried it yet.. And as for the spec sheet..it just tells u half of the story.. Good luck nd peace..
Specs, specs, specs. If you go on specs alone you don’t get the whole experience. But while we are on the topic of specs, the iPhone 4s still owns the title of the highest pixel density screen, and even the new Nexus camera has been bumped down from the 8mp of the Nexus S to 5mp. And btw, the A5 used in the iPhone 4s, even at 800mhz blows away even the dual core 1.x ghz processors used in most high end Android phones today. And all that processing power used by the Galaxy Nexus, the OS still lags at times and has been acknowledged by both Android fans and users alike, that it is not always as smooth in everyday use as iOS is.
**** I hit the like button *****
It’s not about specs it’s about the experience. I would prefer driving a 800 cc bike on a motorway rather than pushing a 1200 cc in middle of traffic
I hear everybody reuting for their devices but the proof is in the pudding, Android Samsung Galaxy Prime destrys the Apple 4S or any later Apple devices for that fact. On youtube just type in Galaxy Nexus Prime VS Apple 4S for real comparisons and see how much faster and smoother the Nexus Prime Ice Cream Is, its embarrassing. I’ve actually only owned Google Mobile Devices and I’ve experienced playing with an Apple device for months, it doesn’t compare to an Android experience, its more fun and gives me a true desktop experience away from the PC. BTW Android has over 56% of the Market Shares Worldwide and now has knocked a dent in the Tablet market by dropping Apple from 97 percent to 67 percent in under a year and a half. WOW!!
JNGold… clearly you haven’t even touched an Android device with a 1.2 GHZ dual core processor. In my case I have already tried and iPhone 4 with iOS 5. The reason why you think it has better performance is because it uses much less memory than a regular Android phone. In a crappy iPhone you have no widgets, you have no live wallpapers, you don’t have an crash monitor app. All that takes memory and it needs much more than 800 mhz. If your crappy iPhone used gadgets and live wallpapers and other apps running in the background, not only would the processor be let down but the battery would run out in a few hours. And then, talking about the pixels… that really doesn’t matter that much. Have you seen the screen of a Galaxy S2? It’s a Super AMOLED screen. It means that it has a much better contrast, vivid and real colors. it has microscopic LEDs, each one emitting its own light. So when you see a black color, it’s really black because the LED just doesn’t lit. Apple’s screen is still an LCD screen using small “lamps” at the sides to give the screen light. That gives you a worse contrast and colors are not as vivid. Clearly you’re just an Apple fan boy and now little about specs. It’s not just about reading, it’s about LOOKING. It’s like voting for a candidate for president just because he says he will change his country. I have compared LIVE the iPhone against my Samsung Galaxy SII and I can assure you, even with iOS5, my Galaxy SII beats the crap out of the iPhone. Apple is shaking in fear that Android will take over the market. That’s why they keep making patents and suing Android phones, they’re just afraid that their crappy OS will end up biting the dust of Android’s OS. And it already does.
@ Dave. Why do u need a live wallpaperXD? I’m not a big supporter of either but your arguments seemed rather weak. You’re talking as if 1.2GH really makes a difference, I’ve tried both the iPhone 4s and Samsung Galaxy SII. They felt the same, and to be honest, although embarassing, ANDROIDS ARE TOO BIG FOR MY HANDS NOW TT_____TT i keep dropping them cause i have weak grip .___.
@Yuki There are plenty of small Android devices. Again, with Android, you have CHOICE.
Very true indeed..
I’ve used the rest now I’m using the best, iPhone 4
well said, used all of them now and iphone is the glossy superfast handset that all the droid users dream of owning one day!
Jamie… have you ever used an Android? Doesn’t look like it. I used an iPhone and after buying my Galaxy SII I would never touch an iPhone again. Your case is that of a fan from hell rather than a tech guy. In my opinion, Apple’s iPhone is for those who know nothing about technology and are just lambs thinking they have the best because everybody has it or says is the best
yep used an andriod and didnt like it, and now have two iphones in our little family and both love them, my misses loves her iphone and our itunes bill shows it!
my freind has an S2 and he used to own an iphone, he loves it so there may be things he likes on it but after using andriod it just seemed too complicated for me so i wont have one!
Having owned both an iPhone and an Android device, I can say I have enjoyed using my Android more. iPhone forces you into a pyramid scheme. You must use iTunes, you must develop using a Mac and xCode. Apple controls its full distribution chain, and if they want to kick you out of their walled garden, then they can. Apple provide an illusion of choice for a user whilst working to restrict that same choice.
Android on the other hand, whilst it has its tendencies of the above, gives you more freedom. If I want to develop an Android app, I don’t have to use a Mac. If I want to put music on my phone, I don’t have to use iTunes. If I want to create an app, I can stick the .apk file on a website and let people get it. And if I don’t like the layer on top of the OS (i.e Htc Sense), I can change it to something like Cyanogenmod. Sure, you can jailbreak an iPhone, but Apple aggressively beefs up its defenses against jailbreaking your device – they don’t want you to.
True but why then are there so few apps for Android and so many for iPhone. Most of what I have read says that developers prefer to develop for iOS.
Jim – You go where the money is. One of the biggest problems in terms of developing for Android devices compared to Apple devices is the fragmentation. With an iPhone, you have one device to code for. With Android you have myriad of screen sizes, resolutions, hardware specifications – all of which influence design decisions and cost money.
On top of that, the Android API was not as developed as they should have been. To access calendar data or use Text-to-speech you had to do some jiggery-pokery. Google have put a lot of effort into reconciling the fragmentation of the OS, and making more APIs available to developers; which is where I believe Android 4 will have great success.
Android devices are being registered at a rate of over half a million a day now – it is to be expected that companies will diversify not ‘just’ develop for iOS.
Make sure you buy your antivirus. What a joke you are.
A wild troll appeared! Wild troll used faux-wit. It’s not very effective…
Not true, you can develop iOS apps on windows, linux, you name it. Example: Unity 3d engine. Please do some basic research before blindly commenting. As for sharing your apps for beta testers you have Ad-Hoc sharing. Obviously you have never attempted to develop for iOS, or got in depth with it. (Which sucks because since most android phones come free, those are the people who do not like spending money, especially on apps you create. Look up the price set for both OS’s vs how much developers are earning.)
Apple controls things because they want their environment a certain way. At the end of the day its Apples products, they don’t have to make them for you and your not forced to use them. There is a reason why they keep releasing the TOP selling smartphone with every release. Its all about the user experience, which Android realized by attempting to make Ice Cream Sandwich more unified across all phones. (And no I don’t want to hear the crap with Android sells more hur dur, pick a single Android device and compare sales to a single iPhone, if you wanted to go by OS install base that means iPads and iPods are in the mix and once again you are trumped).
Could I sit here and point out all the features stolen by Android from iOS, sure could, but it’s a two way street. iOS and Android are learning from each other and improving their OS, which is one reason I am thankful there is an Android. Nothing like good competition to drive creativity and innovation.
At the end of the day it comes down to preference. Having owned both OS’s, I will stick with Apple. Easier to develop for, more apps to enjoy, more secure system with a closed market place (Please name one case where malware was explicitly on the app store. Jailbroken is a whole different story. Google “malware on smartphones”. Android, Android everywhere.)
IMO Android is for three kinds of people, people who dislike Apple, people who can’t afford the iPhone, and people who are Google fans.
chrisray – Sure you can develop for iOS using Flash or the Unity games engine, or by unofficial SDKs like Dragonfire, but is the official iPhone SDK available for Windows? No, it isn’t, and that was my point – that high quality native support just isn’t there. They really should address that if they don’t want to risk falling behind.
You’re right about Apple wanting to provide that solid, consistent user experience. Obviously there is business value in doing that, as iPhones sell so well. I pointed that out in a reply to VKD earlier on. You’re also right about the “if you don’t like it” principle – that’s exactly what I did.
On stealing features, it is never as simple as “Company X stole Y from Company Z”. This is something we’re going to hear more and more of now that the patent war is kicking off. I’ll wait until official verdicts before so confidently staying Android steals from Apple. :) I fear this patent litigation will stifle creativity and innovation – we can certainly agree that is a bad thing.
I don’t dislike iOs – I just don’t agree with Apple’s walled garden stance on principle. I appreciate that Apple opened up a new consumer base to the world of smartphones, and we have to be thankful for that. I have enough money to buy an iPhone (I previously stated I had one), I just feel I get more value from my Android phone than I ever did from my iPhone, and it suits my needs more. I also didn’t buy my Android phone out of some kind of Google worship. I bought it because it looked cool.
Comparing Android to Apple is like comparing apples to oranges (see what I did there, wahey) – you’re not just comparing hardware, or software, you’re comparing ecosystems.
I must agree with you completely Sam. Something I have noticed from Android owners is that they actually know both devices. They don’t just talk wonders about Android because everybody does. Most of the Android owners I know owned an iPhone or have at least used one. Apple fan boys think it’s all about the apps, or the camera. I have spent hours on the App Store browsing through Apps and more than half of them I have found to be useless. The Android Market has very useful apps for any type of person. And the Android store grows every day. One thing I really do hate about Apple is that it is becoming like Microsoft in the 90s: restrictions. You had to buy everything, you could only use programs for Windows and the files used wouldn’t work in any other software. Mac started taking the lead because it was a much better system and easier to use and is virus free. And then the iPhone came about and that’s when the restrictions begun. In order to have a full-user experience you would need to have only Apple devices: An iPad, Apple TV, iPhone and so on. And if you want to make your iPhone cooler, you have to jailbreak it. I just felt like saying it because most of the Apple fan boys don’t even know what an Android device is about. I have a friend who is constantly in war with me because I keep saying android kicks ass and he keeps saying iPhone does. I saw him on saturday and told him to play a bit with my device. His first impression was: “Wow… the screen is so big and clear”. And I showed him the SPB Shell 3D and was shocked. He ended up with a face of loss and changed the subject because he wasn’t able to show we any feature of his iPhone 4 that would beat my Samsung Galaxy S2.
Dave, as much as I see you are a clear Android fan. And that you did shut your friend’s mouth doesn’t mean Android is better than Apple – it just means your friend lacks the ability to confront. I have an iPhone 4, not 4S, have played a lot with some S2s – I can tell you that even the iPhone 4 is better than S2. I have iPhone 4 for about an year now, I use it every single day for at least 3 hours, usually for 10 and more – it NEVER crashed, not even once. On any iOS. Can your Galaxy S2 compete with that? No. The only thing I truly dislike in iOS is that it doesn’t support flash. Neither has a way to run flash games/movies. But I’ll tell you this: the moment iOS is capable of running flash, Android is going down. Deep.
Interesting live visualisation of twitter’s verdict on the iphone here: http://shar.es/b6fZJ Seems people are pretty happy with everything except the battery life..
All three phones use a processor basis of Cortex A9, the iphone has it included in the A5 chipset which means that the higher frequency does actually win Mr JNGold.
Hum, I’m pretty sure the A5 is a 1Ghz dual-core? And not an 800Mhz like it states on this article.
Again, NOBODY CARES ABOUT THIS! Android has taken over smartphone sales and they will VERY SOON take over tablet sales. Is this because it’s a better product? NO… it’s because it’s a free OS that is being slapped on basically every device that has an integrated circuit. Remember, we Apple fans have loved our Macs for years and Mac is only a tiny fraction of the personal computer market…. and not a single one of us cares.
And once again, people list specs as if they mattered. Instead of thinking “better and faster”, Apple prefers to think “appropriate for the task”.
But no one ever understand this. All these journalists and Fandroids EVER DO is publish article after article about “Android vs iPhone” forgetting the INSANELY SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND FACT that you CANNOT compare an operating sytem to a device. That’s insanely stupid, and really shows the ignorance of both writers and fandroids.
Again: OF COURSE the operating system that is free and can slapped on every electronic device imaginable will outsell a hardware/software integrated package that is only available in a very few devices. But equally true is the fact that none of us Apple fan boys give a crap… just like we don’t give a crap that the overwhelming majority of the world prefers WinBlows.
*like*
Yes I totally agree with you.
Best comment ever.
Please show proof where Android has “taken over” smartphone sales. Are you going to go by actual phone sales one iPhone vs one Android phone, or OS install base iProduct line up vs Android line up. In both cases Android comes up short. Like your view point, but facts are off bro.
If no one cares about this why are you reading it?
I will agree that Android has taken over because it is basically free software.
You compare Mac within the personal PC market. You do realize that the macbook pro is the number one selling computer, but NO ONE will ever say that Apple is the leader in this arena. Apple merely has a 9 percent marketshare in the PC market. Likewise, I just want to point out that Microsoft charges insane amounts of money for their OS, but still a Windows PC dominates with 90 percent of the marketshare. The same thing will happen with android vs iPhone, apple will slowly phase out.
As for Chrisray, yea man we all know that the iPhone is the number one market, but like I said look at my Mac vs. Windows argument. Macbook pro is the number one selling laptop, but OBVIOUSLY windows clearly dominates, no arguments what so ever. I just feel like you apple people need something to support just because you shell out so much money.
Last point. I had a macbook and an iPhone. Both very wonderful products, just I hate being locked down. I could not access media files on my mac, could not do video conversions efficiently, transfering video files from a mac to windows had compatability issues. There is no built in HDMI out etc. etc. there are so many features that are left out just because Apple was so snobby. I sold my macbook and picked up a PC. Likewise I had an iPhone before android kicked up… I will say that the iPhone is simple to use, my parents can pick it up and will know exactly how to use it out of the box. But me? IDK it got boring, really fast. With android I like having the ability to customize every single aspect of my phone–heck I even built my own operating system :D.
Totally agree, plus Apple has sophistication and style plus an image that’s top drawer, it’s Mayfair versus Basildon. Leave the Androiders to their cheap looking oversized bling, my 4S does everything I need without crashing, but with a ‘look’ that no other phone comes close. It’s Rolex v Timex.
I switched from Android to iPhone, that was a mistake, can’t wait to switch back. And there is nothing special about the new 4S so don’t waste your money
Give me a break. You don’t own an iPhone
Yeah. We all know he doesn’t, But being a Fandroid, he just can’t control himself, and he blurts out whatever the hell he wants.
LOL why are u refusing his claim?
I bought an iPhone 4 over the summer (I had the 2g and 3g, and then switched to android about a year ago). I got rid of my iPhone in a day. One day. I couldn’t live with the million pop up notifications u get versus the pull down menu in android, widgets, better camera, bla bla the list is practically endless cuz I can customize my phone anyway I like. I know iOS is supposed to revamp this entire thing and make it more similar to androids features…. but eh I already own the best Android phone out right now. Can’t wait for ICS.
Haha give me a break.. 😝 you obviously dont hav ne idea of wat u r saying..
It’s truly amazing to what lengths certain misguided journalist will go to talk up products that are grossly inferior copies of true innovation. History has and will answer them decisively! David
Let me remotely pause the movie I’m watching with my phone… no no I’ll just turn down the volume with my phone. Wow I love this custom themed OS MIUI.US. now I’m going to play something with my PSone emulator on my phone, oh wait nevermind id rather just use my free wifi tethering to connect my laptop to the net from my phone…god I can do a lot for free with an android powered phone.
I have a cheapy android phone. I love the things that it does although kinda slow. Man I feel like upgrading to a faster and nicer looking one. …. store…. buy… thank you. Now to transfer my apps that I love so much…. done. Wow this phone is so cool! I have an iPhone (newest release). Man I want a cooler phone… dammit, I have to wait until next release. Maybe if I switch to an Android phone! Dammit… my apps won’t work.
Previously owned the G1, MyTouch, Nexus One, and Nexus S. Picked up the iPhone 4S because I’ve never owned an Apple product. WOW! So this what smooth, fast, accurate, consistent, long battery life, great games, and superior customer service feel like. Have the NS on eBay now. Android is a mess compared to iOS. The heck with Android, no wonder people love their iPhones.
Yes! what a true post. Apple is simply the best.
One of two things happen here Hector:
1. You never owned an Android.
2. You are a retard and don’t understand technology. Buy one of those old “brick” Nokia, that might suit you
“That is unless you’re one of those people that simply have to own an Apple product just because it reflects your lifestyle or it’s stylistically in tune…… Blah blah blah.” It’s just idiotic to say that you must either buy a phone for that reason or you buy one purely based on specs.
I have been an Android user since they have been available on Sprint; and the problem that I have with these Android “devices” and I use the term loosely. My biggest problem with Android is how soon a device becomes old. I have an Samsung Epic 4g that I got in May and I have been waiting for months for the update. I don’t think I should have to root my phone to get the latest software on a phone that isn’t even a year old. With Apple there last 4 devices (that’s not just phones) are getting iOS5 and to me that’s important!! I didn’t spend all this money on an Epic to have a $600 paperweight!!
It gets better.
You also get updates. My jaw dropped when Apple said they would update my old iPhone 3GS to iOS 5 and only a week after they did the release announcement. It is also awesome to have apps available on day one for the new os because developers had an early release.
Customer service is amazing. If you are lucky enough to live near an Apple store, I have had 3 iPhones replace due to water damage, drops, and faulty screens with a no hassle service for free. I am very likely getting the new protection plan because I am very prone to accidents because of a little one. And the Apple reps are patient as well on any question.
Upgrading from each generation of iPhone was a breeze. I plug in to iTunes and my brand new iPhone has all my old configurations. Now they have iCloud so I should be able to do this in the store.
I do not have to guess what app will work with my iPhone or iPad for that matter. The apps that I see on the iDevice App store are the apps that work and most likely across my family of iDevices.
Camera experience is amazing and has been amazing through the generation off iPhones. In general, the camera gets improved with hardware and software releases. I don’t carry a camera anymore even on vacation.
And a final comment about openness. If you want true user experience openness on an Android phone, you have to root it. This is almost no different from jail breaking an iPhone. For me, it serves the same purpose. Open market place means unsecured apps. I think Apple and Amazone are on the right track. Open source means nothing to me as a user, but great if I want to build a phone.
Ed… you’re full of crap and have no idea what you’re talking about. Without having to root an Android you get a much better user experience than with an iPhone. On the contrary, if you want a better user experience on an iPhone you have to jailbreak it… e.g.: live wallpapers, gadgets, skins, themes. You can get that on an Android device without having to root it. Rooting is for people who want to overclock their device or add some visual characteristics. Performance is basically the same thing. iPhone OS is such a restricted OS. There is nothing you can do to it. Just buy it and use it as it is or jailbreak it. Android is just like Linux, you can do whatever you want to it and personalize it without having to root it. That kicks Apple’s OS ass all the way. If iPhone was better, they wouldn’t have lost 40% percent of the mobile market.
By the term ‘open’, it also refers to wider spectrum and ranges of choice served in front of us. It means, we gets to choose from various manufacturers such as Toshiba, Samsung, HTC, Sony Ericson (known for good sound quality, non comparatively speaking, of course), LG, Huawei and other less known manufacturers. The choice of size, design, compatibilities, resource power, budget, range of accessories, support, carrier and so on.
Software wise, I do admit and love an iPhone due to its nice performance, thankfully the iOS is thoroughly optimized and Apple does deserve a resounding applause for its effort to boost performance even on my somewhat lower-end iPhone 3GS. Though, I reject the idea of a overly-strict envionment imposed by Apple as it limits my choice. Example: No flash support until recently (Thank God Puffin, though it’s still imperfect), I know, Flash sucks on smartphones, but having an option allows more versatility.
Disclaimer, I don’t care if amy is better, because what I want is a better phone! And that includes the ecosystem as well, and I welcomed both side to do it.
All I have to say about all the other smart phones that try to compete with the iPhone is that they are a very cheap product just like all the other computers. Cheap!Cheap!Cheap! Apple is the only quality product on the market. The only reason people go with android is because their to cheap to buy an Apple product. They don’t know what their missing. They waist their money on Cheap laptops,Desktops, and so called smart phones and end up later hating that product and still talking bad about Apple and lying to themselves secretly being envy off Apple. So just keep on hating on Apple until you finally get one.
Oh please come on. Apple are shinny things for stupid people. The reason they don’t multitask is because they are crap at it. That’s why Apple lock them down and you have to jailbreak them to get a True smartphone experience.
As for cheap. get off your horse will you. My HTC One x ( at release ) cost about £450 that’s up there with Crapples. My home built PC cost more than any apple computer you can buy, and yes it’s vastly better too.
Before you start thinking I’ve not owned or used apples I ask you to stop and put a sock in it. I have used them and still prefer my PC and my HTC.
This isn’t aimed at you but to all those that say crapples don’t crash and they are secure. I ask you to do some reasearch….on google ;) I’ve known plenty of crapple products that has phailed. and I have seen plenty of viruses and malware for iOS too. You are not immune. People simply didn’t bother before because there was no point as there are many more pc’s connected to the web. Think of it like this. Would you pick pocket in a taxi or wait until you are in a crowded area. PC simply has more appeal because there are more of them.
Your comments just go to show the mentality of the average Apple user who thinks because it’s expensive and because its shinny that its better.
I beg you learn to make your own mind up and don’t just get one because your mate did.
Its just funny how Apple only competes with itself. While all the others compete with Apple. what a bunch of haters. Stop bad talking Apple and just shut up and hand out your free crappy product. Put out a quality product and people will line up to buy, just like Apple does.
Genius bar vs Geeksquad a 30 second knockout in the first round. good bye to the Bestbuy. Apple says bring on the next. Nobody comes close to beating Apple
When is somebody going to come out with something original and stop copying Apple.
Grow up. iphone 3g does not upgrade ios5. That means millions of Apple users are left behind or have to sell a phone that no one wants. itunes is not perfect infact it was frustrating. Neither OS is perfect but I like my SGS2 better than my 3gs. Apple is overhyped but they make nice products but they don’t work as good as you’re making out. Apple just played catchup with ios5 but did it???? Plastic and metal phone don’t shatter. If you think Apples ios5 is secure then you are deeply mistaken. I think choice is good so people can buy whatever they want. My next phone will be Android I will never go back to an iphone and once Google music moves from beta then the games up for Apple because itunes is the ace in the pack. Finally siri is a gimmick I use my phone to talk to people I do not talk to my phone. All the otherr stuff just makes life easy for me when I’m out. Some of the comments here are plain stupid
Geak2 that a good thing that you like your SGS2 more than your iPhone 3gs because it is almost two years older.
@geek2 of course they’re left behind,as well as the 3g being three years old ,its called an upgrade, remember those?-just like Samsung galaxy s to s2,or nexus to nexus s to nexus prime.those MILLIONS of users will be left behind in some form. Besides someone swiftly got ios5 on his 3gs so not all are left out. And wait, so 1)even though you cant get gingerbread or other updates on old android phones its not a big deal? 2)youll’d wait for google music when you already consider itunes a travesty?dude, that’s a gigantic double standard.
geak2 you cannot be serious about Andriod. And what kind of geek are you still using a iPhone 3g LOL your so silly
Apple will release the one device while the android makers will release one or two a month – and with all those devices, android will never come close.
Android is generic for iPhone :) sent from my iPad 2
Standard, talk about miss the point. People like the iPhone, because they don’t need to worry about the specs (processor, RAM etc), the camera is the only area joe public would have any interest in. That’s why apple wins every time. They make the hardware match the needs of the OS, so the user experience is always good. Not something that can be said for Android devices. I’m more interested in WP7 as a competitor, as it appears that good old microsoft is actually being picky about what hardware their OS goes on, now if only they could do the same with the desktop version… signed “Apple fan boy”
Grow up. iphone 3g does not upgrade ios5. That means millions of Apple users are left behind or have to sell a phone that no one wants. itunes is not perfect infact it was frustrating. I waited until the 4s to get an iPhone because the previous iPhones were not good enough. the 4s is still not good enough, simply because it can’t talk and browse on verizon’s network. that said, it is still the best phone because it provides the best user experience, the best apps, the best support, the simplest buying experience, the best integration with a desktop operating system (OSX), the best platform to develop on, the best app store, the best integration with my TV (AirPlay and AirPlay mirroring are brilliant) and the best upgrade path… oh and best camera. The only negative is that I would have to use an awful network in AT&T to get talking and browsing at the same time.
I know lots of folks with Droid devices, and I constantly impress them with all the things my iPad does that they cannot do. Also, very often, somebody with a Droid tries to one up me with a cool app they have only to see it crash.
there isn’t a whole lot that Apple can’t do, if they ever did gal behind, they would just start releasing things they are currently holding for the next major release. Apple has a clear plan, and I’d be willing to bet the features in the next few iPhones are already heavily under development and testing.
Still missing the point.Android is growing not Apple 48% plus have chosen Android if everyone wanted an iphone they could buy a second hand one or sign up for a free 3gs. Apple is stagnant check the facts. They don’t sell the most phones. It is just that it is simple to use but more people reject its simplicity. Its simple maths and I don’t hate Apple
Try buying an iPhone and stop trying to say you have one, before you make bold statements.
Sean… you do the same. You haven’t used an Android device either. That’s the reason for your stupid comment
I like the iPhone, but I am Android. Apple needs to upgrade the look of the iPhone. Its the same old thing each time Apple updates the iOS. While Google actually updates the look of Android making it way more appealing than the iPhone. You can’t just stay the same, you have to keep changing, thats the only way to survive. If you stay the same, customers will get very bored and leave because they already know what to expect of the look of the product (iPhone) and they will know what to do. Very boring if you ask me. For me, I like new looks, change around some stuff, make us have to figure out stuff. Its quite fun to do it that way. Thats just me.
You make a valid point, but not everyone cares about a new design, especially if the iPhone gets the job done and does it superbly. I just ordered my first iPhone and design did not factor into it. I like it the way it is – simple, elegant, refined, and unless Apple comes out with a different design next year, the iPhone design will not get “old” like Androids always do.
“Android is growing not Apple 48% plus have chosen Android” @geak2 I agree. and I think the reason is because Android changes by the looks and has good (or better) features than the iPhone. The iPhone is the same old stuff from it first came out. The look has never changed and I highly doubt it ever will. Which, Apple will regret in the future when Android dominates the smartphone business.
Your joking right. When was the last time people camped out to get their hands on the new droid.
I think the iPhone is a great phone but it just loses out to Android due to the price difference. Android offers a lot more flexibility and value for money. My two cents.
Very funny iphone 4s review
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsVEbRt6g94
@mo apples shortcomings outweigh androids. They do not lead anymore except for selling an expensively fragile phone. I’ve had a iphone and I will not be going back. Android is getting better and that is without any comparisons to apple. Im happy to have moved on. Remove the rose tinted glasses and check the stats.Android is growing and Google music will make the experience finally complete. Apple produced the first smartphone and has been taken over Travis called
@mo the last sentence should have read. Apple produced the first smartphone but the competition is now in front all the better for consumers.
Is Sean Shank 12 years old? Who camps outside a shop for a phone? My present phone is a SGS2 previous to that 3gs would never touch an iphone4. Here’s a simple test log on Marcio Kogans website and let us know what you saw on your super duper 4gs. He’s a Brazilian architect by the way. Anyway I’m off for some adult conversation. You keep filling Apples coffers they need people like you. The rest of us with free will (the majority) will buy Android.
iPhone today is sooooo boring, you can’t imagine. Its for dummy who normally just even can’t operate a calculator. Quality android phones from Samsung are for professionals.
I am using iPhone 3GS and I really like the phone. My kids love it. After this I bought a MacBook Pro and later my lenovo laptops were rarely used. I bought an iPAD also after this. Now I planning to upgrade my phone and i started thinking of trying the Google Nexus.
How about the user experience on the new Nexus? Is it same like iPhone?
Basicly macs are just tonka computers, not for grownups.
I’ve owned both and my final thoughts are simple.. Go iOS for Simplicity & Reliability, Go Android for Customization & Versatility. Do not get lost comparing hardware specs because they are constantly evolving. Do not care about sales numbers because you’re not purchasing a product just because everyone else has (or are you?) Realize that Apple has been and remains very restricting in every aspect of their iOSs. They claim this is to ensure security but anyone with half a brain can infer that it’s just a $ trap to secure your investment.
No 4g yet for iPhone. Apple am cry. Lmao
Undoubtedly Android is the future of smartphone market. Being an open source application, it decrease the mobile cost to a great extent. Now with the new Ice Cream Sandwich they are offers new more exciting features to the users. Great…
Wow is that to funny apple innovated the smartphone but you phandroids are obsessed with convincing people androids better. So you obsessively hate on apple
i bought a apple its so good ive not opened the box as ive been surfing the web for apple vs android, i think android its bound to be easier to use sometime soon
So to sum it up, iPhone ‘wins’ right? The positive comments for apple seem to outweigh the others by far. Like everybdoy else I love my iPhone and couldn’t care less about the rest. (And would absolutely hate a bigger screen)
Oh and that guy who writes about peoples bad english … get a life, seriously.
Claudia… you get a life too. You assume Apple wins because of the comments? iPhone is for people who use 10% of their brain and can’t figure out how a centipede walks rather than just realizing it walks. Android devices are for people who understand today’s technology. All you Apple fan boys are just blind lambs walking behind other lambs who own iPhones and all together are proud iPhone owners unable to see that there is and android ahead of the pack
Dave, since people that use 10% of their brains are considered “smart”, how much % do you use of your brain? 1%? Get a life.
i love how people are fighting among each other like seriously guys when a person says the iphone is better it is because they prefer it when they say android is better its because they prefer that in the long run it all comes down to the preference of people both phones have awesome specs i have owned both and personally i think that they are both awesome yes they both have their advantages and disadvantages but that is up to the user to determine overall just stop the nonsense when fighting among each other and go with what you prefer
I have had two Blackberry smartphones over the past two years with Verizon and now I am due for a phone upgrade. I have never used either an iPhone or an Android device, so I am coming to the table with not biases for or against one phone or the other. After doing lots of research, reading numerous expert and user reviews, and hands on with the iPhone 4S and Droid Bionic, I chose to order the iPhone 4S for sheer reliability, smooth, easy interface and Siri. Sure, I wish the iPhone had a 4.3 screen, but it was not a deal breaker for me. When the iPhone arrives ( a two week wait), I’ll have two weeks to try it out before my new contract begins. My biggest concern with the iPhone is the smallish keyboard. I have never used a virtual keyboard before, so it will take getting used to, and maybe the Android keyboards have larger keys to make that easier. If I don’t like the iPhone, I can return it within the two week probation period and order either a Droid Razr or Nexus Prime (if they are available). So bottom line: for me the jury is still out about iPhone vs. Android. I’ll check back in another month with my final verdict.
I want to know how many iPhone users changed to Android and liked it and how many Android users changed to iPhone and liked it ;)
People stop saying “You never owned one”. I think everyone commented here used iPhone and Android a lot, otherwise, their post is dumb.
p.s. I like how I don’t need to see the same boring screen everyday on my phone ;)
I dont have the money to buy an iPhone.. Very much satisfied with my droid..
Lets just go with this, Apples are tonka toys, while everything else is legos.
Apple is for the people who like to be controlled, while everything else is for the people with imagination.
apple fan boys are stupid if u got the 4s all u had to do is wait for the update on the iphone 4 and ur set with an iphone 4s lol. Android just feels right no comparison even the name sounds better.
Is it just me or do Android users troll on Apple alot more than vice versa?
I had an iphone the 3g. Then decided to try Andriod and hated it. Always crashed always froze on me would shut off and not turn on had it taken in to find out it had a few viris from the app world..Just down right SUCKED Im soooooo glad to have my iphone back..I will never again go back to an andriod. EVER. Every one can fight about which phone is better but lets face it with Apples last release of the iphone 4s it was so high they sold out!! Never heard that for a andriod!!
Android is simply a knockoff of ios…(we now know literally). I have owned every Apple iPhone, and have been very impressed with every release. Most people I know are informed and buy iPhone for the quality and innovation in the handsets. Yes, alot of people are buying Android because it’s all they can afford, but end up regretting it when they see the quality. In my employment position, I am the ‘go-to’ guy when it comes to my opinion on new tech devices. I ALWAYS recommend iPhone. A few people decided to try Android products. They now constantly come to me to assist them with issues they have with their handsets. At first, I helped, but now it is just annoying. I have gone as far as helping them find affordable iPhones to switch to. With the economy the way it is, alot of people will go with Android phones….it’s too bad. You can’t beat a giveaway product though.
Not to be poking a prod in your i phone publicity . Of course most people will come to you with broken handsets. Because they dont know squat of what to do with them . Thats the real reason most people prefer IPhone. IF a person has to go to someone else with help on android it means they should switch to Iphones.
Everyone else who has a little tech knowledge will be fine on their own . even if it crashes of has issues. they wont run to anyone for support. theyll fix it themselves.
And that is the large difference between Android based handsets and Iphone. ( Tech savvy vs laziness and / or lack of technical skills)
This is basically how it goes for me. When I come along a new piece of hardware, I would tinker with it a lot in the beginning, but as time passes, the excitement seems to go away and it becomes a device that’s used for its core uses. After using both devices, I feel iOS is more solid in terms of use for media, phone functions and productivity (mostly due to the fact that I’m circulated within the iOS ecosystem). While Android pushes out many amazing features, it just doesn’t seem to provide me with the solid/reliable user experience that I want (not saying that it’s a bad OS by any means). Overall, the OS choice is up to you, whether it’s Android, iOS, BB or WP7, they all have their own flaws and own customer base they aim at.
Another point I feel is important is that people stereotype OS users. iOS users in fact do know about technology and not all of them worship their iShrine in their iHome. Same goes for Android, not every Android user is a tech savvy person and no they are not all nerds. (yes there are people who think that)
Alvin, you hit that right on point exactly! I have been using all type of smartphone since the Treo 650. I have had all the iphones and I have recently had the Galaxy S2. That phone is quite amazing and I think the screen size 4.3 inch is just right. However, after I played with the widgets and cool feature it has, it’s missing the main core functions for productivity that I use in my daily life. Siri, is now a huge addition in aiding with reminders, schedules, messages, etc…. .Using the GS2 was great it has opened my eyes to things I wish the iphone had. Such as widgets, bigger screen, shortcuts to wifi, bluetooth…etc. But again, I just felt that the iphone would get the job done. For example, the GS2 voice recognition doesn’t work with my jeep bluetooth, but the iphone 4s does smoothly. I didn’t even have to configure (jailbreak) it. As Alvin mentioned, I know after playing with the GS2 great features, I would get bored and the phone would just be a phone for important functional productivity. That’s where the iphone comes in for the important stuff. I am quite confident that Android will be superb as it continues to mature and Android 4.0 is a great start. Lastly, I would like to say Let’s not forget that if it was not for Apple creating the iphone, THERE WOULD BE NO ANDROID!!!! So, instead of bashing the iPhone, Android or Mango be thankful for the wonderful competition out there and options for all of us. This keeps the companies on there toes.
P.S. Adobe will no longer be supporting or updating FLASH! Adobe is moving to HTML 5.
I’m 16, once I had an Android, loved it because I spent ALL DAY LONG messing with its settings and trying desperately to get more than 4 hours of battery so that I could make decent use out of it. Eventually it got stolen and I was devastated, crying like a baby without what had become my life…
My alternative was the iphone 4, at first I didn’t like it… seemed too damn simple.
Well, that’s the point!
Everything’s already there, so I can Facebook and Tweet like crazy never running out of battery. I have everything organized and a backup ready every time I sync. Simple, clean, smooth, lasting, strong, cool…
I still have 18 GB of Android ROMS and Backups from my late Android, just because they represent time that was a TOTAL LOSS for me.
Just yesterday I had a SGSII in my hands, liked it, but can’t imagine myself becoming a total tech nerd ever again.
The truth is that I don’t give a damn about manipulating technology. It isn’t supposed to give me headaches… It’s supposed to make life easier.
My point being
-U want to mess around with the customization and weird stuff: GET AN ANDROID.
-U want to actually use the phone: GET THE IPHONE
Apples always been about the software. You can easily get a Windowz machine 2x better than the highest end Mac for half the price. The value is the software experience and Google will never come close.
Android takes this all day … U have options on what phone u want, screen sizes, physical keyboard or not. You have widgets; not just a screen with just a bunch of apps on it… Apples os. Looks like my phone when I pull up my app drawer. So boring. No notifacations page wtf? Too many steps to do anything on apple… I’ve owned both iphones and android phones, and in my opinion android has more options and has a better o.s…….. Iphone was the thing when it 1st came out. That’s about it. Time for them to improve dramatically.
I just can’t see myself paying $400-$500 on a phone. And get 800 mhz. and stuck on 3g… Makes no sense.
@Jpistols Jailbreak allows Apple to get even with Android. Without it I’d toss away iOS all together. In addition, your preference on user interface is your own opinion; just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s bad. At this level of competition specs don’t matter anymore, it’s all about the experience on the user end, with that comes optimization as well.
I have one Iphone4 and 3 LG shines. The shines are heading to the garbage
Xmass day and 3 new Iphones will replace them.
I am neither a android guy or an apple guy. I had a evo shift for about a year and a half and really liked it until It did a software update about 6 months ago, the phone itself started having problems. I would have to power off and take the battery out to reset because my slide out keyboard would launch the web while trying to send a text. Also the over all speed of the phone like launching an app, or ending my web visit would take a long time to do, it was like the phone was always thinking way too hard to complete a simple task. A little over a week ago I upgraded to an iphone 4s, I think it is a very nice phone, the screen quality is amazing,i am able to stream netflix shows with amazing quality on sprints 3g, and I like having my itunes right on my phone. That being said I am really conerned about the lack of 4G capability and do miss the bigger screen. I don’t want to be left in the dust on the 4G. I played with the iphone 4s and the galaxy sII a couple of times at the store before I made a decision. The reason I went with the iphone was because sprint allows you 14 days to try a phone and if you don’t like it you can bring it back and get a different one. Since I had never had an iphone i figured i would give it a shot, and if i didn’t like it i would take it back for the galaxy s2. It just matters what you use your phone for. Me I like to have my music, I want to be able to stream netflix every once and a while and have a good browser experience. I am thinking about returning the iphone because of screen size, and lack of 4G capability. I like itunes, but i have an ipod so that takes care of that. I have nothing bad to say about either one. I am not concerned about the problem I had with my evo shift because the phone is 1 1/2 years old and I am sure the devices are better now. So don’t call me a hater, I gave the iphone a shot.
I owned an iphone 3GS which just came up for contract renewal. I decided to get an android on a short contract just to try it out, fully expecting to think it inferior to the iphone. Didn’t work out that way – just small things really like having a satnav shortcut to home on the front screen or a quick wifi on/off widget available without having to go into Settings etc etc. I’m not saying I’d never buy another iphone but they’d have to seriously change the feel of it now for me to go back. Unless you’re a complete tech novice or just seriously lazy, I can’t see why anyone would prefer ios.
I am using galaxy s2 its far better than iphone 4, its user frienndly..
Iphone 4 is crap…..
I am using galaxy s2 its far better than iphone 4, its user frienndly..
Iphone 4 is ****
android reminds me of windows….slow…crappy and buggy…its sad that it took apple to release a iphone for all these companies who been making mobile phones for YEARS….think about it for a min…..apple made the iphone in 2007…..so before 2007 IN THE USA….who released a smartphone that could do what the iphone started in 2007? I remember people saying nick names like “the iphone killer” same way with the tablets ipad came out SO EVERY other maker hopped on the train….apple is smart…they maintain their own hardware and software unlike android ANY 1 CAN MAKE IT even some parts of IOS is open source “darwin” only reason why people think android is better because its on all WIRELESS phones…but that is also pron to problems like malware and viruses like WINDOWS
so what if apple locks their product down…jailbreaking is legal by a judge to get all that extra stuff people speak of ….oh by the way the iphone is 1gz dual core just clocked to 800mhz but a simple jailbreak can fix that just like people said with androids root….i have used both and own both and my android phones are all broken i rooted them….had custom roms but even with android upgrading to the latest OS is not as easy as upgrading to the latest ios apple products just work out of the box if we want the type of things android got a SIMPLE JAILBREAK will give us that….google them self’s can’t even sell a phone to compete towards the iphone they have to use other makers to compete its unfair how all the mobile phone company’s have to use android to compete vs apples 1 phone and 1 ios also last time i checked google has to run 2 different OS’S for the tables and the phones how sad is that???? funny thing about it the whole OS is open source any 1 can make android lol ..what good is great hardware when you run it with a crappy OS…hence why hardcore pc users hate WINDOWS…..also why hardcore pc users USE LINUX….its funny how when ANDROID os is compared to IOS they try to use the latest hardware specs lol google will never come close..why? because its open source its FREE ..I love freedom don’t get me wrong….but i like to eat my cake too…..IOS + JAILBREAK =best of both worlds best of all ITS LEGAL so while android phones have to come out EVERY OTHER MONTH apple can sit back and relax and work on the next super release funny how people are on the 4g lte bandwagon when NOBODY REALLY 100% 4g yet these carriers are still working on a 100% solid 4g network apple smart….wait for the next 4g chipset to be released for better batt life….the current 4g batt life sucks and us apple people can careless we only care about products that work…..not just something we can toy with …..same way with xbox live…people love how xbl is but THEY PAY TO PLAY AND MAKE IT THAT WAY…same way with apple….people make great apps for it so people are willing to pay for them…..hence the reason for the great apps and the user exp we have……..like they said you get what you pay for and free is not always the answer …and you would think since linux was a free OS…that it would be on 100% of the desktops lol instead of paying microsoft !!!at least with my product I know whos making it and when i have a problem I go to 1 company not 2 lol…someone tell me when android starts to makes their own phone instead of other people
Owned both, iphone is more polished smoother and has an undeniable want factor, but i preferer android , i can create folders dump files in using drag and drop , i can play movies that use just about any codec, to me a good android device is more like a mini computer than the iphone is.
Owned both…. My take is: If you are a hardcore techie or don’t like to be restricted and not scared of customization, then go with Android. iOS is still just a Phone OS whether you use it on an iPhone or iPad. iOS is stable because it is only on Apple devices. If Android was only on one Manufacturer’s devices, it would be stable too. iOS is great for kids and old people. There is always some Apple guy talking about the billions of Apps for iOS over Android. Really ? Is that really a big deal ? There isn’t an App so far that I have needed and couldn’t get on Android and usually for FREE. Apple is too proprietary for me. I want to be able to add music, movies, files etc without the hassle of using another program like “iTunes”. Bottom Line… Thank you Apple for opening the Door for Android, now don’t let it hit you where the good lord split you…. on the way out !
I am not going to say that I own an iphone. But Android has the upper hand simply due to the fact that when you do decide to buy a phone you have more choice with Android.
If specs are equal then I would give the upper hand to IOS. For about 2 weeks.
Android will destroy apple just like windows destroyed apple. Choice in the consumer market rules the day. And always will.
Competition is why I prefer android. The aversion to competition is why good people avoid companies like apple and walmart.
If Apple was the only PC company I would pay big dollars for a single core pc with optimised softaware instead of paying a reasonable competition inspired price for my quad core monster that I have complete control over.
Android users rule the phone. IOS rules the apple user.
I am no slave. I have spoken.
Funny, because right now it’s Nokia’s Lumia that’s making the big screen throughout the tech media.
HeHehe….Why are the Apple freaks always so mad in their comments. Is it because Apple makes them pay so much more for their Iphone and Ipads and then make them pay that much again for the next new version, when all they do is make small changes. Come on, if Apple doesn’t want to get left behind again, they will give their users what they really deserve. They are charging their users prime $$’s…give them real hardware upgrades. Give them a real front facing camera. Work it out with Adobe and get Flash support. Make your screens bigger. Anyway, just thought it was funny. You see the same thing throughout the internet. I started with Iphone and am now proud to be with Android and enjoying the ability to customize. It’s not perfect, but it’s getting there and it’s fun being along for the ride.
Peace Out.
I would like to buy a android phone but I have spent a lot of money on iPhone apps for my business , I don’t understand why everyone has to argue about which is the best phone I think it depends on what you are using it for .
Stick with the iphone, if i had a lamborghini i would not downgrade to vauxhall. Its all about class
I own an SII LTE and Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S right now. I’ll say iPhone is so much better. Simplicity is better than being unnecessarily complicated which is android os. Page loads so much faster on iOS everything is fluid. No matter what the specs are, ios is still the snappiest of the three….im paying bills for 3 heavy data using smartphones. Im cutting one now, which will be Nexus, because SII is more snappier than nexus. Only google fanboys loves nexus and SII will soon get 4.0. Still my iphone 4s will still be the main phone. Simplicity and smart at its best
And android phones are battery sucking whores. King of unnecessary background processes. Im disappointed with SII and Nexus with that.
Peiple, it just comes down to preference,
Apple is restricted and controlled to make it more fluent and easier on the users end. Android is more open and customizable, good to experiment and tweak.
It’s not that one is better than the other , they are different . People buy them for what THEY need, Apple pushes out what people generally want. Android makes devices available for a whole variety of different stuff.
People, stop being biased. Try both platforms. In the end it’s down to what YOU want and prefer. Just don’t push it onto others that have already made up their mind.
Android is more flexible at the users end. Where apple tries its hardest to make things just work, it’s what YOU agree with.
You cant compare aston martins with ford so why bother doung it with phones. Iphone=(aston martin) androids = (ford with endless list of models)
So I have read a few of these comments here. I’m a faithful iphone owner going back to the original iphone. I bought the iphone 4s and have not been happy. To be fair i might be getting bored. My co-workers have androids. Their Antennas do better in the heart of buildings. I constantly drop calls and have issues with my OS. The camera quality is much better now. It was horrible in white, i had to return it for black, because the flash would bleed thru causing a white hays. when i dropped the phone last week the back glass cracked (dropped from 3 feet getting out of my car forgot it was on my lap). they replaced the glass for 30 bucks. The quality of the camera is IS FINALLY great. The internet FLASH thing pisses me off to no end. I DONT CARE IF FLASH IS OLD TECHNOLOGY! I wanted flash years ago, get it in the ios period….. All the awesome new features in ios 5.0.1 is mostly ripped off from android. My Battery on my iphone 4 300 hours and iphone 4s 200 hours……. Is Apple high, or was I for defending it as long as i have. ( I WAS THE APPLE FAN BOY LIKE NO OTHER ). I’m honestly tired of Apple excuses, over priced, poorly built, sweat shop supporting, and going from ahead of everybody else to falling be hide on software innovation. If you are on the fence about what to buy trust my post. If you spend 200+ dollars on an android you will with out a dought be happy with your purchase. if you decide to go apple then you will have a good phone for the price of a great phone. imo

Quality lol. The phone is built by Foxconn. They have the worst record for there electronics. It is not quality at all. but Apple has been doing this for years. They tell you it is the best around when in fact it is very low quality and charge you and arm and a leg. Keep buying your quality lol.
Guys, guys, stop arguing and be mature for a second. iPhone is the best.
Speed, camera, screen size and customizing
Did any one think to buy their phone for making calls?
Zorn you’ve brought up a good point – making calls! Im an Android user and after reading the comments i conclude that Android is certainly leading with UI and multi task and Apple users seem to be satisfied with everything apple offers. I love my Samsung S Plus and Samsung Tab!
Apple is great at innovation, Apple is great at general appeal, and Apple is great at marketing. The smartphone arena is playing out the same as the personal computing market a few decades ago. Apple innovated a great product for the home computing market, and it appealed to the masses of non-technical users. Eventually though, Microsoft emulates their innovation and blows open the closed/limited business model that Apple enslaves themselves to all the time. Microsoft provides an OS that is not tied to specific hardware, and is much more open to personal configuration. Here is a shocker, most non-sheep humans like the freedom of choice and will even opt for it over ease of use. Because of this, as we all know, Microsoft eventually becomes the overwhelming dominate in terms of market share.
Android is doing the exact same thing to Apple in the smartphone market, because Apple is taking the same approach it always does. Once we are past the initial innovation of the touchscreen smartphone product, why would one want to invest in an Apple product that basically offers me the choice of black or white hardware. Especially when I can turn to Android and have a plethora of hardware options from different manufacturers. Competition is a good thing, and with Android I have the creative and engineering forces of Samsung, Motorola, HTC, etc… competing to come out with the best hardware product for leveraging the power of the Android OS. This helps to avoid situations like taking 2-3 3 versions before Copy\Paste functionality gets added to iOS.
Apple fans decry security…well duh! If I am creating mal-ware, am I going to write it to run on Microsoft PC’s or Apple Macs…Android phones or IPhones. Obviously I am going to build it to run on whichever systems provide me the largest audience…that is never Apple. If we woke up tomorrow and Apple had 98% market share, then it would be the most un-secure device within a matter of weeks. Apple does not avoid security issues because of iOS’ stellar integrity, it avoids them for the same reason Antarctica avoids being invaded by an attacking army–there aren’t enough people involved to make the invasion worthwhile.
I hope Apple sticks around because we need their ideas…better yet, I hope they transform themselves into the R&D department for a more open-minded company that has a reasonably progressive business model. They would do the world a lot more good that way, and we could save money avoiding all of these lawsuits of who copied what functionality.
Once you get rid of trend followers, the fisher-price users that need to be catered to in order to overcome their technical inadequacies, and the pretentious loyalists who get some kind of self-worth from the measure of commitment they have bestowed to a company that does not know their name and will not cry at their funeral–then Apple’s user population is probably reduced to employees who get a discount on Apple’s products. Those of us who purchase electronics objectively based on the device’s capability will usually take a position of opposition against Apple. Those of us who want control over our technology will usually take a position of opposition against Apple. Those of us who value freedom of choice when deciding on a product will usually take a position of opposition against Apple. Finally, those of us that consider the cost/value ratio to be a reasonably important factor when making a purchase decision will usually take a position of opposition against Apple.
I sincerely look forward to the amazing technological innovation Apple will bring us in order to rebound their business after stifling themselves out of the smartphone market.
n way android is the best os i ever saw, n and android is the death of apple.? :D
I think the biggest problem with Apple and its products is iTunes, the fact that you need iTunes to do almost everything when the device is connect to a computer is whats making Android a better option. I have used an iPhone 3GS for a while and sharing stuff like pics, music etc is just very very difficult compared to my new phone (Galaxy S II). Android is king!!!
Whenever the headline is phrased as a question, you can guarantee that the answer will be ‘no’.
Good job on the cynical hedging and lazy reliance on spec-sheets too.
I don’t think people buy iPhones because they love Apple and have no idea that there are other phones out there. I think they buy them because 1. Their friends have them 2. They’re easy to use and 3. The features (or lack there of) that the OS has is sufficient for their lifestyle. Not many people are computer masterminds, they want a phone that works, out of the box, that they don’t have to worry about. Android has a plethora of options, settings, customisations etc that overwhelm even me (a computer scientist) and a few devices in the past (some now come to think of it) let the OS down especially those with unresponsive touch screens.
In fact most people used to use Blackberries (in the UK), it’s only since the coming of iMessage that people have started to switch over.
@qal, Your rant about Apple’s business plan is misguided at best, there were many reasons why Microsoft won the PC war (Intel being a key player). Besides Apple’s share of the laptop and desktop market is growing all the time. Actually it comes across that you don’t like Apple’s products simply because they are perceived to be better by general consensus and you are an anarchist/anti-socialite so naturally you hate them.
Apple are very good at positioning their products within a market so that they are perceived cool (by giving them away to cool people, like celebrities and music personalities (as by the way, they did with the iPod)), this is sociological dynamite, since the people we idolise (celebrities, artists, DJs, etc) are the ones we imitate. The price mark also makes them seem luxurious or as the British say ‘reassuringly expensive’, and they actually are a good product at the end of the day the main reason people bought them in the first place was because they let you combine your iPod and phone into one device, so you no longer had to carry both. The oposite is true for Android, it has an image problem within society, about 2 years ago, the only people with android phones were those that couldn’t afford an iPhone or geeks that knew better, no trend setters there then.
I think what also puts people off is the price, we all know Apple’s products are expensive, so why do the new Android 4.0 devices cost the same? People simply think ‘well I can get an iPhone for the price of this!’. As someone who is a believer in buying something because it’s good value rather than because it’s what my friends have, I would buy an Android device if I couldn’t get an iPhone for the same price.
Although there is a new trend coming through, where because everyone has an iPhone it is now cooler to not have one or have a really old one (like the first 3G). Android may benefit from this shift in opinion (blackberry are still clinging on it seems), but they will need to sort out the media system because no-one wants to go buy a (now expensive) android phone and have to then go and buy an ipod just so they can keep their music collection intact, hopefully google play will solve its problems and homogenise the whole thing, it’s looking pretty promising.
i asked many people about why the iphone is better the only replay “because its mac” . and they don’t know one feature of the device ,
I have galaxy s2 and most of my friend have iphone & i don’t see that much of different , every thing that iphone can do , the android can too.
and as for me see android as more free or easier ,same apps ( similar ) ,
transfering files from/to computer is easier & faster the features are higher for lower price .
so please please tell me one thing i don’t know about iphone that makes it better .
I don’t understand what the big deal is with this iphone business, you are only paying for the product name “Apple” it is a big business but all products it creates, you are only paying for the name. With android you are paying for the use of it. Will have more apps then the iPhone ever will have. With an android you can get any app you really want. With an iPhone you can only get apple apps.
Besides I don’t understand why it is such a big deal. People have their different views on everything. Every product made has it’s flaws, bad or good.
Is the Apple IPhone 4S value for money ?
That’s the question I asked the apple employee, after their last hourly presentation in my local Currys store.
I gave an example of the memory pricing; if you buy a 16gb its £500, if you buy a 32gb its £600 . So £100 extra to get 16gb more memory – that is not value for money? Response from Apple employee – totally disagree.
Asked her why Apply don’t include a separate memory slot – response from Apple employee – because having a separate memory slot gives the risk of memory being contaminated , so Apple are protecting the consumer by not providing this feature…
I suggested that Apple would never include a memory slot, as they would extract less money from purchasers – some of whom are buying it as a lifestyle product.. Response – disagree.
So I thanked her for her time, and suggested she saved some of her voice for the next hourly presentation (to an empty store), as she was pre-programmed by Apple to dismiss any logical arguments on value-for-money features.
I may visit again, and see if I can find the reset button on the same employee, than re-flash her with Android ; now that would be something, an Apple branded “product” with Android OS ….
I have used Apple, Nokia, motorola and samsung with all there OS I believe samsung and htc are on the right track with there tech specs and OS.
Apple is simply to messy to use (have to use itunes on the desktop & doesn’t work on linux out of the box) & to much of a fashion statement for a realist like me although there os security is one of the best out there (based on bsd open source OS) the only thing you have to worry about is the apple software itself and the way they control the market they will keep screen sizes down as this would decrease the sales of ipads and cost to much to build the phone (galaxy note) the list of apples control goes on blah blah as long as they keep this up and make it hard to use apple on other Desktop OS i wont be using it but i am a secret fan of there OS? now moving on, i plug my phone into my computer and copy and paste my mp3, video, pictures or office Doc to my phone, DONE it works it plays most formats i tried MKV video format in full HD it worked out of the box ? i had trouble with this codec before im using the galaxy nexus at the moment and its replaced my laptop the screen size is still a little to small but there getting there the OS ice cream sandwich WOOOOw my only worries about android is its security Vs apples but im willing to take a risk as i would consider myself to be net savey. im not willing to give up editing & updating my websites, sFtp from my home & work PC remotely to my phone, VPN, SSH or any other remote feature and the remote features with its usability (screen size to allow a decent working environment) so as for as im concerned android ticks most of the right boxes with HTC or samsung leading the way for specs, and all that concerns me is whats best for my life not what looks good hanging out of me like a good looking girl that ill never love or start a family with. Samsung galaxy nexus makes my life easy period this will be apples downfall as people are getting smarter about there phones specs, usability and are asking questions about specs, joe blogs is evolving into a geek that will be apples downfall, get real apple or its downhill from here on there is nothing to stop a community from creating an apple style system open source from BSD, like apple OS.
however watch out android there are more linux based phone OS popping up i have a feeling in a few more years there will be as many Phone operating systems from linux based OS than there are linux PC based operating systems well over 100 official, i see ubuntu are there already and the sky is the limit as almost anything can be ported to linux as i currnetly run windows xp and win 7 and have them all running together inside my linux desktop on VB and with future tech advances it would be possible to host your business web services and run your business from a linux based android or other open source based phone OS also is there anyone out there using BSD OS for a new phone OS if not i can see them all starting up very soon. not forgetting nokia’s partnership with windows “lmfao” nokia should have stuck to there linux os on there n900 that was a cool phone if nokia had of stuck on that track with some of there business i might have stayed a nokia user as i used to think nobody would beat a nokia phone how wrong i was by silly decisions made in a boardroom.
so at the end of the day taking all into consideration samsung does it for me but i hold no loyalties to any brand or os rather i would look what can it do for me and my life samsung 3 looks good specs are far better than the apple 5. time will tell all again ill be getting this phone if its going to be better then the galaxy nexus then Woooooow.
I have an IPhone, IPod, IPad, and a Droid X. Anyone who says one is better then the other is full of sh!t. There are obvious advantages to both, with apple you know what you’re getting it’s like ordering one of you’re favorite meals at a restaurant vs android which is more like trying something you haven’t ordered before it could be bad or it could be amazing!
I’m also sick of hearing which is more innovative neither are in competition and should never be it’s like comparing a sports car (android) to a luxury vehicle (apple) both have clear advantages and disadvantages.
A sports car maybe faster where a luxury car may be more comfortable and enjoyable this doesn’t qualify as a good comparison of which is better because it’s all one hundred percent speculation.
You’re going to love this: I don’t own a smartphone. I don’t own a tablet. I’m a professor in my forties, and enjoy watching the market do its thing.
What I see is exactly what happened earlier with pcs and laptops: Android, which is not limited to a specific, expensive company, simply overwhelms Apple, that IS so limited. The exception, of course, is that in the past, Apple could stand apart as the rebel vs Gates. This time, Apple is responsible for the bizarre lawsuits gauged to control the marketplace…ie, Apple is the “bad guy,” not Gates, whose control is dimming by the second.
Late response to the modern world: Having read everything here, having played around with both Android and Apple via cellphones/tablets of friends, I see little difference in the products, except for Flash, price, and openness to being messed with. Back in the day, I had nothing but contempt for Gates, couldn’t afford an Apple, and chose Linux as os. Looking at the situation now, it’s all reversed. I have little but contempt for Apple and its bizarre lawsuits, respect Android as an open operating system, so will likely go with Android, given lack of any real difference that I can sense in experience between the systems.
When there’s little real diff in experience, then might as well spend money on political conviction. I’ll keep my ancient phone, and invest in an excellent Android tablet. I think.
It’s silly with some of these comparisons. I gave my grandfather my android one day and he took 5 minutes just to dial a number because of trying to find the place to dial, then the callibration was off, then he had delay issues. A month later I got an iPhone and had him call someone for me, in five minutes he had searched for the number, got the hours, called to ask the price…He even made himself a sandwich in that same time frame….he is 74 and has synced 4 email accounts, filled out his bump app, downloaded popular apps such as soundhound, pandora, etc and uses them frequently because he knows that all the options and formatting for the apps is consistent. The menu is always in the same place…I just don’t know how anyone can compare these products. Android also has plenty of viruses. It’s like a buying a new BMW (apple) to a used Honda Civic (android). A BMW is costly but it will not cost you any money out of pocket for the next 5 years, in those years you will have people come up and say how amazing it is and the performance will never disappoint….the Civic will be cheap, break down sometimes cus of some racing part you added but be cheap to fix, you can customize that street racer to be crazy fast and beat a BMW in a drag match but you have to have the knowledge to surgically take apart the Honda and create this super car (super android).
Apple is the best screw the rest lol just look at how many viruses are on android phones and how many virus blocker Apps there are with android and then again apple iOS has very little to no viruses then look at screen resolution and quality lol thats a joke cause android is struggling to keep up with the retina display my 4s runs 3G all the time and it’s faster then that stupid 4g that everyone is gettin on their knees about then put a new android phone and IPhone 4s side by side and see which enters apps faster lol poor android and htc is struggling to keep above water anyway or if you can’t compare them YouTube it and you will see apple puts all these android phones to shame
I keep seeing the word “Innovation” in these remarks. My first Iphone was a 3G, then I got a 3GS. Looked exactly the same. Except I could put wallpaper on it. Then my whole family updated again (AT&T family plan) and now I have an IPhone4. It looks exactly the same. Thinner, but the OS doesn’t look any different and I don’t find myself doing anything on it I couldn’t have done on my 3G.
So in 3 phones, I have seen wallpaper added as the major innovative improvement.
I would (at this point) be happy if the next phone was 4 times thicker and actually had some battery life. The IPhone is a cool gadget until you actually have to start using it, stranded on a road, trying to get service, calling everyone you know, trying to get a GPS fix. You discover that cool little phone is only good for about an hour of actual use because the battery is so bad.
I was an early apple guy for years I had to have the “I” everything the day it came out. I would never consider anything else, then my work offered me a phone line and a phone but it was a droid, so I decided I was going to give it a shot it was a Galaxy sII and needless to say I rooted it and flashed custom Roms on it, and I have to say I would never consider anything else now. When I play with my iphone I feel like im stepping back years in time, its just a giant app holder now, its not nearly as “smart” as my SII and like I said I thought I would never change , I have nothing bad to say about apple other than I am sorry steve but I am no longer an iphone user nor do I think I would ever suggest it again to anyone as the best phone to buy.
I’d go with Apple myself lol. I asked on http://www.Formvote.com too, and they had the same conclusion. Guys should check out that site by the way, I think it’s new or something. Anyway, awesome article!
Once you go iphone you will never go android, i hate the fact that google and samsung are simply just copieng apple’s os and their devices, that is what they are doing. Once a friend of me sad: every pilow is just a pilow, someone invented a pillow and someone else copied it. I agree with him, but we’re not talking about pillows but about phones and softwares. Apple is creative, android isnt.
If someone bought an android phone, they aren’t dum, poor or something like that. They just bought a fake iphone, ipad that doesnt even work good/easly
F***k android
I was once a android lover i hated iphone but after using a iphone 3gs and iPhone 4 i never like android anymore i simply love iphone its 5 megapixel cam is better than 8 megapixel of androids i now don’t feel gud using any other cell i just love my iphone 4
Hurrah, that’s what I was seeking for, what a data! existing here at this webpage, thanks admin of this web page.
