10 Problems With The X-Files Revival Nobody Wants To Admit

8. The Colonization Storyline Will Get Even Less Time

As already confirmed by none other than David Duchovny himself, the X-Files revival will feature a mix of Monster of the Week episodes (shortened to MOTW, basically standalone supernatural tales) and mythology episodes - the driving force behind the show. The mythology features the ongoing story of alien abduction, colonization, and the conspiracy the keep the truth from the public at large.

Not to mention a plot by shadowy government figures to aid in colonization in exchange for their survival, a secondary plot to create a vaccine against the virus that will eventually come to enslave humanity (before it gestates, turning the human host into an incubator as a living extraterrestrial biological entity grows inside it), the replacement of key human figures by alien replicants (who are passed off by some as human super soldiers), the creation of alien/human hybrids as something of a slave race, and an alien rebellion by other extraterrestrials working to fight the colonists.

And all that barely scratches the surface of the colonization storyline.

Think that can all be wrapped up neatly in under six episodes? Think again. Even with the full six, which the show won't get since it will feature Monster of the Week outings, it would be a stretch. That's a big problem for mythology fans, of which there are many.
