10 Scariest Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episodes

Save your silent applause for the end...

Buffy The Vampire Slayer is not a TV series remembered for being scary. There's still a lot of fondness surrounding the cult show €“ now over a decade since its series finale €“ but most of that is engendered by the characters, relationships, plot twists, and witty banter. Oh, and the musical episode, which remains unparalleled in modern popular culture. For the most part, it dealt with the supernatural in a kooky, kitschy manner. The villains Buffy came up against were serious business, but there was also Anya's prickly vengeance demon adjusting to being more human, the time Willow downloaded an internet demon boyfriend, and scrappy punk vampire Spike. When it wanted to, though, Buffy could stop laughing at the Universal Studios line-up of horror monsters and prove that there's still life in the old terrors yet. Capable though Buffy and the gang were, there were times that they met their match €“ and ran away screaming. Which didn't exactly inspire confidence in the viewers. For every Zeppo and Once More With Feeling, there's the episode where a little boy's nightmares become real and plague Sunnydale, or the one with the highly unsuitable €œtest€ on the titular vampire slayer's eighteenth birthday, or The Wish. Here are the ten scariest Buffy The Vampire Slayer episodes. Save your silent applause for the end...
