Season 5 of Sons of Anarchy is just over a month away and if, unlike me, you're not totally obsessed with it this list is designed to get you up to speed with a show that has a deeper, richer and more engaging back story than any other show on TV at the moment. If you don't have time to watch the last four seasons before September, I've got your back. The history of Sons of Anarchy is so in depth that I can't possibly go through everything, so here are my personal choices, in chronological order, for the 10 most important events in the history of the Sons of Anarchy.

10. 1967 - The Foundation

John Teller After their return from Vietnam as paratroopers, John Teller and Piermont 'Piney' Winston roamed all around Northern California under the name the Sons of Anarchy. More specifically, they travelled from Eureka to Big Sur €“ Redwood country. It wasn't until John's wife, Gemma, fell pregnant with their first child that they decided to lay down roots in Charming. John felt Charming was too cute a name for a motorcycle club so they decided to call the first charter of the Sons of Anarchy the Redwood Originals €“ SAMCRO was born. After setting up shop in Charming they recruited several other war veterans and motorcycle enthusiasts €“ Wally Grazer, Thomas 'Uncle Tom' Whitnet, Chico Villenueva, Lenny 'The Pimp' Janowitz, Clay Morrow, Keith McGee and Otto 'Lil Killer' Moran. John's vision was to have the club act as a form of social rebellion while also trying to protect Charming from the vast number of gangs and drug dealers surrounding the town.
