12 Ridiculous Ways TV Characters Were Brought Back From The Dead

Dammit! Why won't you stay dead?

As a rule, when some is dead, they're dead; unless of course you're in The Walking Dead, in which case you'll be back in a few hours very hungry but not necessarily looking your best. Because in TV land, characters are brought back from the dead all the time. There are a few ingenious ways in which this can happen but more often than not, their resurrection is far less successful. From TV shows going with the big flashy 'a character dies in the season finale cliff-hanger' to actors making a triumphant return to the show long after we've mourned their character's death. TV is littered with the corpses of ridiculous scenarios where all plausibility is broken and audiences leave confused, irritated or just plain bemused by the events on screen. In this article we look at 12 TV character resurrections that bordered on the ridiculous as we ask ourselves, what were the writers thinking?

12. The Medical Mysteries Of A Fifteenth Century Philosopher Healed Me €“ Allison Doren (Alias)

In what was one of the most shocking twists in Alias's five year history (and there were a lot of them), Sidney Bristow's best friend Francie Calfo was shot in the head...by herself. Or as it turned out, the villainous Allison Doren, who was surgically altered to resemble her victim. The 'evil Francie' story line bubbled along nicely in the latter half of season two, leading to the epic confrontation between Allison and Sidney in one of the longest and most brutal fights in TV history. Fortunately Sidney won the day, shooting Allison in the chest several times and killing her. Not only that, the apartment they were in burned down and Sidney vanished for two years, waking up with no memory of what had happened to her in Hong Kong (another fantastic plot twist). However it wasn't just Sidney that returned from the grave...Allison did too. How did she survive being shot in the chest? Well it turns out the new big bad, The Covenant, had access to the works of the show's mysterious Fifteenth Century Philosopher / Leonardo Da Vinci wannabe, Milo Rambaldi. Like many of the McGuffins in the show, Rambaldi's creations not only allowed Allison to live, but it also gave her an uncanny healing ability. After all that had happened in season two it felt ridiculous to have 'evil Francie' back the following year. It undid all the drama and suspense of season two. Fifteen Century medical miracles aside, sometimes when a baddie is killed, they should just stay dead, no matter how good they are.
