Over the past few years, many iconic TV comedies have come to an end, leaving fans desperately searching for something new to fill the void. Original greats like 30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Recreation, How I Met Your Mother and Futurama all went off the air within a few years of each other, while so many new sitcoms struggled to live up to that high standard as replacements, many cancelled before we even got to know them at all.

Let's face it, Selfie and Animal Practice aren't about to become your new addiction. Nobody is going to remember S*it My Dad Says with William Shatner as anything more than a complete and utter waste of time. And how Melissa and Joey managed to make over 100 episodes before viewers were put out of their misery, we'll never know.

While the hole in your heart left by the absence of Leslie Knope and Liz Lemon may seem impossible to fill, there are an extraordinary amount of new comedies on TV that aren't getting the credit they deserve and for which you should be watching.

This article runs down 12 such shows which you need to give a real chance to right now...
