15 Best TV Villains In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Ultron who?

Since its inception back in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had a villain problem. Unlike the comics, where antagonists return time and again, their counterparts in the MCU have almost all been dealt with after a single film, killed, jailed or otherwise never to be seen or heard from again.

With the exception of Loki - and Thanos, to a far lesser degree so far - Marvel hasn't really capitalized on their villains, particularly those who could've (and should've) been around for more, like Red Skull, Ultron and the Mandarin. As the MCU continues to expand on the big screen, new heroes and threats have emerged with every film, meaning that potential recurring antagonists who could have evolved alongside the universe itself are never given the chance to become truly iconic.

Interestingly enough, the television side of the MCU doesn't quite suffer from this problem. Through two seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., a season of Agent Carter and a season of Daredevil, fans have gotten the opportunity to see Marvel embrace their villains in ways the films cannot and/or have not. From the 1940s to modern day Hell's Kitchen, the TV side has introduced and explored intriguing and important antagonists populating all kinds of corners within the MCU.

With new seasons of all three shows on the way, along with several more shows in development on ABC and Netflix, let's take a spoiler-filled look back to stack up the 15 best small screen villains of the MCU so far...

15. Nobu

Appeared In: Daredevil

Though Nobu's body was last seen burning, chances are strong that fans will retroactively learn more about him - and the importance behind Black Sky - sometime down the line, perhaps when Iron Fist arrives.

As it stands, though, and despite what little the first season of Daredevil divulged about the mysterious character, Nobu proved to be one of the vigilante's most dangerous challenges along his journey to bring down Wilson Fisk.

The two engaged in a brutal fight that peppered the runtime of "Speak of the Devil," with Nobu nearly succeeding in killing Matt before the latter gained a last-second upper hand. Their duel served as one of the first season's many highlights and solidified Nobu's status as a true threat.
