MASH Finale

With the war over, one of the plot threads of the finale is B.J.'s inability to say goodbye to Hawkeye, given how much time they've spent together over the past few years.

As Hawkeye gets into the helicopter and leaves the 4077th - or what's left of it - we see that B.J. has left him a message: the word 'GOODBYE' spelled out in rocks, so it'd be visible from the sky, while the original theme song from the movie plays.

B.J. wasn't able to audibly say it, but from him and, more so, the show as a whole, this was an emotional way to sign off to its audience.

Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen.
