To say that Netflix enjoyed a great deal of success in 2019 simply wouldn't do the heights that it reached justice.

The streaming platform once again dominated the world of television and film by producing a ton of new and original content for its subscribers such as The Witcher, V Wars, Murder Mystery and The Irishman. It added to that by also bringing back old faves like Stranger Things, YOU, A Series of Unfortunate Events and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina for further installments.

Unfortunately, it also had a bit of cull as it cancelled a number of shows, including the promising Daybreak and, one of the most notorious cancellations of all, The OA. It also lost the streaming rights to Friends (which was taken off Netflix in preparation for its arrival on Warner Bros.' own service HBO Max).

But alas, a new year is upon us and the streaming service has a ton of exciting content set to hit our screens in the coming 12 months. With that in mind, let's take a look at the Netflix TV shows - new and returning - that you should be watching in 2020.

20. Spinning Out

Netflix's first drama of the year, Spinning Out has been referred to as the ice skating version of Black Swan. A journey of redemption of sorts, it follows a young skating star who must overcome fear itself after suffering a career-changing injury - and that redemption comes in the form of switching gears to become a pair skater.

But even with her dreamy partner to catch her, it's not all championships and ovations for Kat as she struggles with her family's history of mental illness - ultimately fearing how it will affect her.

With a compelling concept and strong writing, it's not as unapolagetically YA as it sounds, and it thrives on strong leading performances from Maze Runner's Kaya Scodelario and Arrow's Evan Roderick.

Release Date: January 1
