5 Best Female Friendships On TV

1. Lydia Martin And Allison Argent €“ Teen Wolf

Say what you will about Teen Wolf being an over-the-top, melodramatic, corny, vaguely homoerotic show about shirtless hot guys but it also features one of the most genuine female friendships between teenagers I've seen in a long time. Lydia and Allison are the two central female characters and while the show tries to keep the audience focused on Allison's star-crossed relationship with the werewolf Scott, it's Allison's friendship with Lydia that is healthier and more nuanced. Over the three seasons, we've seen their friendship evolve from popular girl takes new girl under her wing to two people who truly listen to one another and depend upon one another's steadfastness in a crazy world of werewolves, kanimas, stalkers, and bloodthirsty hunters. Along with the supernatural troubles they face, Lydia and Allison also rely on one another for advice on relationships, school, and parents. It's also refreshing to see two incredibly intelligent young women work together and just enjoy one another's company, freely telling the other that they love them. Lydia, with her pouty lips and short skirts, is actually the smartest student in her grade, and Allison is quick on her feet, resilient, and deadly accurate with a bow and arrow. While the heart of the show may be Scott and Stiles' friendship, it's Lydia and Allison's that's the brain.
