If you're a fan of Gotham, you might recognise Paul Reubens as The Penguin's Dad. His recent appearance in the hit show caps off one of the most incredible comebacks in America. Following two popular movies and a successful kids TV show on CBS, in 1998 Pee-wee brand was a generating more than $25m in merchandising. Following Reuben's arrest in 1991 for indecent exposure, he wisely benched his childlike character and kept a low profile, finally re-emerging at an awards ceremony. A few years later, he would show up at the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania XXVII. His backing by major networks and showbiz personalities proved that the US public still had an appetite for Ruebens, as he began re-establishing his Pee-wee brand. This week, the plot of Big Holiday will undoubtedly take a back seat, as people mull over the various twists and turns that have accompanied Pee-wee's controversial journey back to the movie world. Pee-wee's Big Holiday brings the laughs to Netflix on March 18th.
