8 Reasons You Should Be Watching Netflix's Sense8

If you're not watching, you should be.

Andy and Lana Wachowski's latest work, Sense8, dropped onto Netflix earlier this year. It is the story of eight people that wake one day to find out their brains have all been mystically linked together. They can share their memories, emotions and abilities between each other at any time. You might think this sounds similar to The Matrix but Sense8 is a whole new exploration of the human experience; less sci-fi and more modern fantasy.

It features a cast of characters from all over the world and from all walks of life. The show has received some negative critiques over its sometimes cheesy dialogue and wandering plot lines, but it has also gained a swell of fan support because of its heart. There is a conspiracy element to the overall plot, but it is really about the characters dealing with their lives and the changes this new ability brings to it for each of them.

In just one season, the show has created a fan base that has taken to social media to spread their favorite scenes and feelings about the show. From the opening montage to the final moments of the finale, Sense8 is an experience that should not be missed.

8. A Diverse Cast

How many shows can boast a cast this diverse? There is Sun Bak in Seoul, Capheus in Nairobi, Wolfgang in Berlin, Will in Chicago, Lito in Mexico City, Nomi in San Francisco, Riley in England, and Kala in Mumbai. The show feels all inclusive to any audience because they throw a wide net and give us a slice of life from all over the world.

You would be hard-pressed to find a television show that is more internationally friendly. There has been a clear effort made to portray as many types of lifestyles as possible. There are criminals and cops, rich and poor, gay, straight and those in-between.

In showing us all these different people, they are actually showing how many similarities exist between everyone in every country. All of the characters are looking for a connection and a way to become a better version of themselves: a universal drive we can all relate to.

The Wachowskis are giving us a story about relationships but they are using the diverse cast and worldwide settings to tell it with a broad scope.
