8 TV Shows That Would Have Been Great As One-Season Wonders

Murder One It's a sad fact that many great TV shows get cancelled after just one year without the chance to deliver on their promise. Firefly, Wonderfalls and Journeyman; we all have those one season wonders whose quick demise causes a moment of anguish in our geeky hearts. At the other end of the scale there are those TV shows that go on and on and on, from season 687 of X Factor to Big Brother 57. Okay, perhaps I'm exaggerating a little bit, but reality shows continue to wear out its welcome, outlasting great cancelled dramas like the recently deceased Ripper Street. It's not just reality TV; shows like Bones were brilliant once but now feel like a tired shell of their former selves. In this article I examine some of these shows and ask would they have been better and remembered more fondly if they had only lasted a single season? What if they had focused solely on the original promise, without having to create new story lines and characters that are not as good as the first? What if they should have gone out much sooner but or a much greater high? An argument for quality over quantity? Let's start with number eight...
