Yesterday brought the news that Arrow had cast Rick Gonzalez to play vigilante Wild Dog in Season 5, and now another crimefighter has been added to the ranks.

Josh Segarra (known for his roles on the likes of Chicago P.D. and Sirens) will play the DC Comics character called Vigilante (bet that was a long meeting). Vigilante has been around in the comics since his introduction back in 1983. Real name Adrian Chase, he was a New York City District Attorney, who takes up a life as a vigilante after his family are killed by mobsters.

Deadline, who broke news of his casting, are reporting that Chase will be "Star Citys new district attorney and an ally of Mayor Oliver Queen, who aims to clean up the streets through the legal system."

Presumably, then, that will lead him on a path to becoming Vigilante, because frankly who in Star City isn't a crimefighter?

It'll be interesting to see Arrow putting some focus on Oliver's tenure as Mayor, but it is starting to seem like they could be running the risk of overcrowding the show. After all, they killed off a major character last year, but have now added two more vigilantes, as well as promoting Echo Kellum to a series regular. Here's hoping the show can find some of the balance that, among other issues, has been missing for a while now.
