Ballers may not be the most critically lauded show on HBO's slate, but it's hard to argue with the riotous entertainment value of the glossy production and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's inimitable charm.

Well, season two just wrapped up its run, and so it's time to look at what worked and what didn't. Did the show manage to improve upon what came before, did it cling eagerly to the first season's successful formula, or did it maybe feel like a lazy rehash?

Can it ever become more than "Entourage for American football", or is it destined to remain under that shadow forever? How were the new cast members?
