Camelot is a 10-part mediaeval drama based on the Arthurian legend, from the US cable network Starz. It has a starry cast: Jamie Campbell Bower (The Prisoner) as Arthur, Joseph Fiennes (FlashForward) as Merlin, Eva Green (Casino Royale) as Morgan, Tamsin Egerton (St Trinian’s) as Guinevere, Claire Forlani (CSI: NY) as Igraine, Sinéad Cusack (Much Ado About Nothing) as Sybil, James Purefoy (Rome) as Lot, and many more.

It’s also notable for being executive-produced by British writer Chris Chibnall (Torchwood, Law & Order UK). Starz have released this 3-minute sneak peek, featuring behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast/crew. My first impression is favourable. I love the casting, the costuming and scenery looks decent, and something as simple as the colour scheme really stands out. This looks closer to what I always wanetd from the BBC’s Merlin, when that series was first announced.

Camelot arrievs in the US on 1 April, although Starz are premiering the first episode on 25 February to build word-of-mouth. Is that wise move, leaving a six-week gap between new episodes? It doesn’t sound like a good idea to me, especially if the first episode underwhelms, but that’s their plan.
