Camelot is a 10-part mediaeval drama based on the Arthurian legend, from the US cable network Starz. It has a starry cast: Jamie Campbell Bower (The Prisoner) as Arthur, Joseph Fiennes (FlashForward) as Merlin, Eva Green (Casino Royale) as Morgan, Tamsin Egerton (St Trinian’s) as Guinevere, Claire Forlani (CSI: NY) as Igraine, SinĂ©ad Cusack (Much Ado About Nothing) as Sybil, James Purefoy (Rome) as Lot, and many more.
Camelot arrievs in the US on 1 April, although Starz are premiering the first episode on 25 February to build word-of-mouth. Is that wise move, leaving a six-week gap between new episodes? It doesn’t sound like a good idea to me, especially if the first episode underwhelms, but that’s their plan.
What are your thoughts on this preview and your hopes for Camelot in general? Is there room for another take on the Arthurian legend? Is Chibnall the right man for the job?

I liked the first episode; a very good start. I’d like to see a more distinctive look for the show, but that will probably develop as the show progresses. The casting is good (especially Fiennes) and there are plenty of characters to follow. The location shooting is nice, too. Looks interesting, so I’ll be watching again on April 1.
