Game Of Thrones: 10 Most Believable Fan Theories

6. X Will Be Azor Ahai Reborn

Game Of Thrones Fire Sword
HBO

Azor Ahai was a legendary warrior who, with the help of his flaming sword Lightbringer, saved the world from darkness. According to prophecy, after a long summer Azor Ahai will be reborn amidst smoke and salt, wielding Lightbringer, to defend the world from R'hllor's nemesis the Other.

If the prophecy is true then we are definitely approaching the point where AAR will appear, as winter is coming and the White Walkers have begun to descend once again. Melisandre follows Stannis because she is convinced that he is going to be the hero reincarnated, however the events of last season indicate that won't be the case, and few were convinced anyway. The two most likely suspects are Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.

When Melisandre looks in her fires for a sign of Stannis, she sees only Snow. Jon also has a dream where he's fighting the Others with a burning red sword in his hand, and when he's stabbed (in the book version) his wounds start to smoke as Bowen Marsh cries salty tears.

Meanwhile Daenerys was born on Dragonstone, which has both smoke from the mountains and salt from the sea. Later she stepped into the flames, and emerged unscathed and as the Mother of Dragons.

Aegon Targaryen and Victarion Greyjoy have been suggested as other possible candidates, but given the strong ties Jon and Dany have, and the fact they're established as the heroes of the saga, one (or maybe even both) of them is the most suitable to be Azor Ahai Reborn.
