5. Euron Greyjoy Hired A Faceless Man To Kill Balon

Balon Greyjoy, King of the Iron Islands. Ring any bells? If not, don't worry - the show's largely forgotten about him too, and he hasn't actually made an appearance since season 3. Indeed much of the Ironborn storyline has been cut, most notably during season 5. However, it certainly looks as though his brother Euron will be have a big role to play next year, which means we're probably going to say a proper goodbye to Theon's father.

In the books he dies in a slightly mysterious fashion, as he falls to his death while crossing one of the high bridges connecting Pyke's rocky spires. Euron, who had been banished from the Islands by Euron a few years previously, coincidentally happens to make his return the next day, and stake his claim for the throne. Except very few things are actually coincidence when it comes to Westeros, especially someone dying.

Arya and the Brotherhood Without Banners meet with the Ghost of High Heart, an old woman from the Riverlands who has visions of the past and future. She tells them of a dream, where she sees "a shadow with a burning heart butchering a golden stag, aye. I dreamt of a man without a face, waiting on a bridge that swayed and swung. On his shoulder perched a drowned crow with seaweed hanging from his wings. I dreamt of a roaring river and a woman that was a fish. Dead she drifted, with red tears on her cheeks, but when her eyes did open, oh, I woke from terror."

The first line clearly refers to Renly Baratheon, altough he's already dead by this point. The fish woman is a reference to Catelyn, and her resurrection as Lady Stoneheart. The middle section obviously predicts Balon's death. The man without a face is taken as a reference to the Faceless Men of Braavos, and the drowned crow indicates Euron, who is known as the Crow's Eye.

Given her other visions were true there is no real reason to doubt this, meaning Euron hired a Faceless Man to kill Balon, so he could become King.
