Game Of Thrones Preview: What To Expect From 'The Gift'

Only four episodes remaining.

We€™re somehow over halfway through season 5 of Game of Thrones, with just four episodes remaining. Already this year we€™ve seen death, marriage, rape, fighting, and enough political scheming to make those in the recent UK General Election leave parliament for good. Overall, while there have been some big, shocking moments, the show has been going at a fairly pedestrian pace, as it tends to do. This isn't a criticism; Dan Weiss and David Benioff have been slowly but surely spinning their web of stories, refusing to be rushed in anything and allowing various character pairings to really develop. It means that, as usual, we€™re going to be gripped going into the final few episodes, which is where all the build-up starts to pay off in a way that would satisfy even the Iron Bank. Last week's episode gave us not only the already infamous 'Black Wedding', but Jon Snow headed North, Arya taking a step closer to becoming a Faceless Man, Jaime and Bronn being captured in Dorne, Margaery being arrested, and Littlefinger and Cersei plotting and planning away throughout. With a lot left over not only from last week, but previous ones as well, there€™s quite a bit they€™re going to have to cram into the next couple of episodes, and there€™s still probably a bit of set-up to do yet. That is the job that this week€™s upcoming episode, The Gift, is going to have to do, and thanks to the title and the teaser released, we have some idea of where it might be headed€
