Game Of Thrones: Ranking The Probability Of Every Character Death At The Battle Of Winterfell

Season 8 is bringing Game of Thrones' biggest battle ever, and not everyone can survive.

Game of Thrones Battle of Winterfell

Game of Thrones is back, with a first episode that largely set the table for the wars to come. The second episode, too, was devoid of action, although it did deliver some all-time great character work, and ended with the arrival of said dead at Winterfell's gates.

That leads us directly into the third episode, which is where we'll get the Battle of Winterfell. Throughout all the buildup to Season 8, this has been THE episode. It dominated the trailer, and it's where most of the pre-season chatter has been focused, and with good reason.

Directed by Miguel Sapochnik, whose previous episodes include Hardhome and Battle of the Bastards, the Battle of Winterfell is going to be the longest battle sequence in not only the show's history but, according to those involved, cinematic history as well. Episode 3 runs for around 82 minutes, and the battle is expected to take up a large portion of that. It's become infamous ever since word got out of shooting for 55 consecutive nights outdoors, and it continued to film in the studio for a few weeks afterwards.

Obviously not everyone will die, because there are still three more episodes to come after, but it should also go without saying that not everyone will survive. It is the battle of the living vs the dead. Who will stay on the side of the former, and who is going to bolster the ranks of the latter?

NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far. A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
