While the road to get to Game Of Thrones season 7 has felt almost infinitely over-extended, the new season's arrival is beginning to feel very tangible. It's almost here, and by the look of the latest trailer, it's going to be absolutely worth the wait.

Over the past six seasons, HBO have refined their marketing to such a fine art that this trailer is easily the greatest thing they've released for Thrones. It's heart-pumping, exhilarating and stunningly effective at building excitement ahead of the coming season. And it very much sells the idea that this season will finally see the war for the seven kingdoms will be coming to an almighty head.

There's a lot to love about the trailer - not least that it doesn't show TOO much - and while it's a shame we're yet to see anything of Sam or Gendry, for the most part, it looks like HBO have focused on their key players and dropping in some fan-baiting money shots.

That said, the trailer is not actually perfect (it's very close to being flawless), and there are a couple of blemishes worthy of note, even if they quickly evaporate in the heat of Beric Dondarrion's flaming sword.
