With only a few episodes left, Gotham delivers its finest hour to date.

Gotham returned from its hiatus last week, and delivered yet another impressive instalment in what is quickly shaping up to be the series' best season. In spite of the strength of the Fox drama's final outing, however, nothing could've prepared us for Ace Chemicals.

Picking up from where 13 Stitches left off, Ace Chemicals sees the villainous Jeremiah Valeska enact his psychotic plan to destroy Bruce Wayne by having him witness a reenactment of his parents' deaths - a plan that leads to some physical conflict between the two opposing forces, as they face-off in the iconic eponymous building.

Despite the strong focus on the aforementioned narrative, these characters aren't the only ones to feature, as all of the series' mainstays pop up in some capacity. In fact, two separate storylines - one featuring Lee and Gordon, and the other centring on Selina and Oswald - run nicely alongside Jeremiah's vengeance, creating some appreciated levity from the heart-racing action.

Save for one minor caveat, Ace Chemicals is Gotham's greatest instalment - not only of this season, but of all time.
