Jessica Jones Season 2: 10 Things That Must Happen

Is it too much to ask for a Defenders cameo?

Jessica Jones' debut season instantly became one of the most critically-acclaimed superhero TV shows ever when it arrived back in 2015. Krysten Ritter's jaded alcoholic sleuth was the anti-heroine we didn't know we needed, and David Tennant blasted the Tenth Doctor from our memories with his truly sinister turn as the mind-controlling Kilgrave.

At last, the long-awaited second season is soon upon us. But mixed with our excitement is a lot of trepidation that the new run could fall short of the initial season. After all, Marvel's Netflix output has been a bit hit and miss since 2015 - see: Iron Fist and The Defenders. Yet if the makers are able to hold on to what worked before, as well as tweak those things that didn't land quite right, then there's no reason JJ Season 2 can't be just as good.

So what are these things that the season needs to tick off? If the sophomore run follows these dos and don'ts, it can avoid joining Iron Fist at the bottom of the pile and hopefully give its previous season a run for its money.

10. More For Malcolm To Do

Eka Darville's Malcolm Ducasse had an interesting character arc across Season 1. At first, he seemed to be just Jessica's drug-addled neighbour. However, it was later revealed that he was actually Kilgrave's spy. Once Jessica found this out, Malcolm was able to distance himself from the villain and get his life back on track. By the end of the season, he was helping Jessica out as her Alias Investigations assistant.

it would be exciting to see how this next step for the character will unfold in Season 2, but Malcolm's totally superfluous role in The Defenders suggests that he is going to be overlooked in favour of new additions to the show. Especially as Jess already has a close friend and confidante in Trish. So what position is there left for Malcolm to fill?

It might be hard to top his twisty-turny journey in Season 1, but let's hope Malcolm's arc in Season 2 manages to surprise us.
