Marvel's The Defenders: Every Character Confirmed So Far

15. Luke Cage

Marvel Luke Cage
Netflix

Confirmed By: Being one of the four Defenders.

Plot Predictions: Luke Cage ended his debut season in prison, and based on one of the few images we've had released from The Defenders, that's also where he'll be starting off - at the very least, we should see him getting released. That could well involved Matt Murdock, with Claire Temple promising to get Luke her great lawyer friend, which would be how the two meet, and better setup the realisation when Luke discovers is lawyer is also Daredevil.

His secret is now out in the open too, which gives him a very different dynamic to the others, We'll see a Cage more at peace with who he is and where he's come from, but it could also paint a target on his back and put more pressure on him to get the job done.

As perhaps the most mature and street-wise of the heroes, we should see him serve as a mentor, especially to Danny (and again, play on those Heroes for Hire links). Luke doesn't have any experience with the Hand, so it'll be interesting to see how he deals with that: his no f**ks attitude and no-nonsense style of fighting should contrast well against the high-flying ninjas.

It's unlikely we'll see any rekindling of the romance between him and Jessica Jones - though you'd expect there to be a reference to it - but we will also see a continuation of his relationship with Claire as well.
