How I Met Your Mother: 7 Ways Finale Went So Wrong

As it turns out, pressing the reset button on three beloved characters isn't everyone's cup of tea...

How I Met Your Mother The nine year run of CBS's hit comedy How I Met Your Mother came to an end on Monday night and the reactions have been strong and instant. The finale promised to finally tie up the story of the friends in Manhattan and put together the final pieces in the story of how Ted Mosby met the mother of his two children. 'Last Forever' undeniably fulfilled the two criteria but did they do it in a satisfying way? The majority say no and there is plenty of evidence to support their claims. From this point onwards there are severe SPOILER warnings, if you have not seen the series up to its final episode be warned that spoilers follow directly from this paragraph. The penultimate episode, 'The End of the Aisle', had set the everything up perfectly for Ted to take centre stage and complete his own personal journey. It brought happy endings to all four of his friends as Barney and Robin finally wed and Marshall and Lily put their disagreements aside to unofficially renew their vows (with an updated twist). The stage was set for the final episode to be all about Ted and Cristin Milioti's "mother" character while viewers said goodbye to the gang and show. But it fluffed its lines. How? Well, read on and see what it got wrong.
