New X-Files Series: 10 Things Fans Want

The truth is out there - again. Fox has announced that they are in talks to bring back The X-Files, using the term €˜revival€™ €“ and both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovney seem to be interested, with Anderson promoting #xfiles2015 on Twitter. It's huge news for fans of a show still wildly popular over twenty years after it first hit the airwaves. Maybe it was fate. At Comic Con 2013, the show's 20th Anniversary panel was one of the most popular and highly attended, winding up as a standing room only event that outdrew many upcoming film panels. At the time, many felt that Fox needed to cash in on the continued interest in the show by announcing a third movie, but though series creator Chris Carter and both Duchovney and Anderson were willing, the studio didn't take the bait. Carter instead wound up producing a pilot for a new show, The After, for Amazon, which was picked up for a series order based on its popularity with fans of its streaming service. However, just weeks ago the web giant announced the series would not be produced after all, with no explanation given. Now, during the Television Critics Association press tour, Fox TV chiefs Dana Walden and Gary Newman - who were with the network throughout the original run of The X-Files - have stated they're in talks with Carter to bring the show back, to the delight of Anderson, who's already pushing the Twitter campaign. Duchovney also recently stated he would be interested in doing more of the show. Anderson currently has both Hannibal and The Fall on her resume, and Duchovney is attached to the upcoming show Aquarius, but depending on the direction producers take, they could still have time in their schedule to revisit The X-Files.
