Scream: 12 WTF Moments From The TV Season Premiere

Welcome to Lakewood.

How can you make a slasher movie into a TV series? MTV's Scream is fully aware the audience is asking that question, with one of its lead characters addressing this concern in a self-aware monologue. But do the showrunners have an actual answer? It seems that they do, and it's basically the answer you'd expect. The Scream TV show will take the formula of a slasher film and stretch it out for 10 or more episodes, developing these characters more than a film has time to. They're still all going to die horribly, but if the audience spends more than just 90 minutes with these people, the hope is that their deaths are really going to matter. That does make sense, and for this reason the show has potential. But, if the series is going to accomplish its own goal, it needs to do a better job making viewers care about the characters and avoiding some of the dumb, cliche moments already present in this first outing. The pilot is a promising start, full of brutal kills and tense sequences, but also some really dumb dialogue and downright bizarre character behavior. Here are the 12 most WTF moments from the pilot episode of Scream.
