Of all the races seen in the vast Star Trek galaxy, Vulcans are perhaps the most recognised. Loved even to the point where audiences cheered when First Contact's oft-mentioned "alien race" revealed their legendary pointed ears and were the first to introduce Zefram Cochrane, and all of humanity, to our galactic neighbours. Despite being recognised for several reasons however, it has to be said that almost all of these (perhaps not the pointy ears) are accompanied by misconceptions. Whilst the nerve-pinch is a firm favourite for example, the death-grip is in fact made up. Vulcans are also well known for not having emotions, whilst in actuality they possess those that are far more intense than others, but which they choose to suppress. Again, just as Spock is only half Vulcan, it would also seem that on many occasions the Vulcan race is only half logical; the number of times in which their beloved logic can be described as either flawed or even non-existent is actually higher than many would realise. Thanks to Spock, Tuvok, and T'Pol, Vulcans (or at least half Vulcans) maintained a regular appearance throughout four of the six (five live-action, and one animated) television series.
