Star Trek: Discovery - Harry Potter's Jason Isaacs Named Captain

Malfoy boldly goes...

Lucius Malfoy Jason Isaacs

The latest name to join the illustrious list of William Shatner, Sir Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew, Scott Bakula and Chris Pine is set to grow with the inclusion of a Harry Potter alumnus.

Former Lucius Malfoy actor Jason Isaacs has been cast in Star Trek: Discovery as Captain Lorca, the Captain of titular Starship Discovery and while it's a major role, it won't be the lead (which is already being played by Sonequa Martin- Green). The show is set to debut later this year - probably at the turn of Autumn (or Fall for you American language ruiners).

Could this be a JJ Abrams reboot-style bait and switch casting? Could it be that Isaacs only sits in the captain's chair for the first episode (or few episodes) before he's killed off? He is, after all, a pretty high profile name to add to the show and it would absolute fit the casting. Or maybe that's just post-new-timeline pessimism sneaking in?

The new show promises to seek out new worlds and new missions, boldly going probably to similar areas and exploring the same ideological issues as the past shows and movies. But it's looking more and more exciting.
