Stranger Things Season 2 Will Bring "Justice For Barb"
It's about time!
Stranger Things still hasn't officially been renewed for a second season, but that isn't stopping the creators from talking about a hypothetical Season 2.
Now their attentions have turned to one of the breakout characters of the series, and an unlikely one at that: Barb.
The friend of Nancy, Barb is given something of a short shrift of things, being killed off in the Upside Down and hardly anyone even noticing that she's missing or apparently caring that she's dead (it's something I mentioned back in my review of the first season).
Season 2, which seems like a given thanks to the show's huge popularity, will go some way to fixing that, according to co-creator Matt Duffer, who told IGN:
"We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it.
"It’s not like her parents are like, ‘Oh, Barb left.’ She died! Season 1 actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time. So part of what we want to do with [a] hypothetical Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.”
Although he admits it's unlikely we'll see a return for the character, it is good to at least hear that her death will finally be acknowledged.
