The Big Bang Theory Season 6 Finale - Review & Discussion

finale And so Season 6 of The Big Bang Theory has now come to a close. And this season's finale was big on the laughs but short on the overall drama as compared to the past finales. Let's have a look at where we've left our favourite geeks and their hot blonde across the hall.

Raj Gets Heartbroken...And Has A Breakthrough

raj With the end of season 6 we see Raj's first real relationship in years come to a surprising end. Raj was pushing the reclusive Lucy to meet his small circle of friends, and ultimately it was more than she could handle. As a result, Raj pushes her too hard and Lucy bails on their relationship, breaking up with him, via text message of all things. Understandably Raj is devastated, and retreats into his familiar shell of loneliness and self-depression. As Penny stops by to check on him in the finale's final scene, we learn that Raj has been surprisingly cured of his mute-ism around women that has plagued him for so long. A nice little dramatic twist to end season 6, to be sure. Overall this has been a season of great progression for the Raj character and let's just hope we aren't back to square one with Raj and his love life.

Leonard Leaves, And It Affects Everyone

penny Another nice twist to end the season found Leonard going to work for Dr. Stephen Hawking in the North Sea. As a result, Sheldon will have no one to care for him, Penny will be without her boyfriend, and the rest of the gang are without their social center. Again while this is not a huge development in the season's finale, it could still have huge ramifications, much like throwing a pebble into a calm body of water and rippling across the entire gang. What would be great is if to open Season 7 we get a brief look into how everyone coped while Leonard was away over the summer. Sheldon is sure to drive everyone mad, and Penny is sure to get lonely. Overall, it's nice to see the show break the mold and have their Alpha Male leave the group for higher ground, reaching for greater heights in his career with the support of the woman he loves, and the woman who loves him. How nice is it to finally not have to play "what if?" with the Penny/Leonard dynamic?! sheldon Season 6 was ultimately a wash. The show certainly had its moments, and it€™s still the best comedy on television, with the ratings to prove it. The greatest strides the show made this past season were with Howard and Bernadette (see my previous Big Bang columns!) and their strengthening relationship through marriage. Sheldon Cooper certainly made some progress, but nowhere near where he should be in terms of character development. Penny and the rest of the gang rounded out the season nicely, and it was a great touch in the final weeks watching Raj come out of his shell. What say you, Big Bang fans? Content with Season 6?
