The Flash: 10 Things We Learned From The Season 2 Premiere

Who is the man who saved Central City?

The Flash Season 2
The CW

The Flash’s first season was a very welcome surprise, and much of its momentum built towards that fantastic finale. When we last saw him, the Flash was racing up the side of a building, heading towards a temporal vortex that was threatening to swallow up Central City. The stakes were high and for months, we’d been aching to see what would happen next.

This season, we pick up with a cameo-filled dream sequence, and find that while Central City is saved, a lot has changed in the six months since the event. Even though the immediate cliffhanger of what happened when Barry went into the vortex is briskly resolved in a flashback, its lingering after-effects and the presence of an entire other universe only raise more questions.

Likewise, almost every character finds themselves in a new place in the premiere. And while we quickly get answers as to what they’ve all been up to, we’re left with only hints of where their journeys are headed this year.

Coming off of an impressive debut, The Man Who Saved Central City set the stage for Season 2 of The Flash. From character introductions to the larger conflict being teased, we examine the most significant developments from the premiere.

10. Cisco's Powers Are Acting Up Again

The Flash Season 2

At this point, so much has been made of Cisco’s comic book alter-ego, Vibe, that it should hardly come as a surprise that his powers are continuing to manifest this season. After accidentally witnessing Harrison kill him from the Out Of Time timeline, and then being told that he could see between the vibrations of universes, it’s clear that this ability was not about to go away any time soon.

When he first spots the former alternate-universe denizen Atom-Smasher in his own world, Cisco immediately seems to transport himself somewhere else. It looks like little more than an alley, where he stares at Atom-Smasher and then immediately flashes back to reality. Presumably, he’s peering into Earth-2 but it’s only for a second and then it’s gone.

Cisco has yet to open up about this new experience and it’s clear that his grappling with his powers and what they mean is going to be a big part of his character arc this year. Just don’t hold your breath for him to get a costume and a codename just yet.
