The Flash: Ranking Every Main Character Worst To Best

2. Eobard Thawne

The Flash Cisco Wells
The CW

The series has seen its fair share of unforgettable villains over the past two years, whether they be the monstrous Grodd, the charming but unpredictable Captain Cold, the psychopathic Trickster, or Zoom, but none have ever well and truly hit the bar set by the Reverse-Flash, Eobard Thawne - masquerading for a long spell as Harrison Wells, of course - in season one.

With guest star Matt Letscher demonstrating the true arrogance of the character in flashbacks, Tom Cavanagh was able to show just how much Thawne had changed over the years as a result of being stuck in time, having actually come to care (to a degree) about his "allies," like Cisco, but still no less dangerous, willing to kill and use whoever he needed to get what he needed. His hatred for Barry but twisted placement as another father figure in his life made him both an engaging foil and character in his own right, and his legacy will forever be felt over the run of the entire series, which - as season two thankfully reinforced - is far from done with him.
