The Walking Dead: 7 Greatest Deaths So Far

7. Jenner (Noah Emmerich) - Episode 1.6

url-2 In the final episode of the show's first season, Rick and his fellow survivors have succeeded in their mission to reach the headquarters of the Centre For Disease Control And Prevention (the CDC), the Federal Agency tasked with protecting public health and safety. Hoping that the agency will provide sanctuary and a potential cure for the undead, Rick and company instead find that only a solitary doctor remains committed to researching such a thing, his co-workers having either deserted their posts to find their families or committed suicide to depart from a world they consider to be doomed. Said doctor is Edwin Jenner, played by Noah Emmerich, whose continued living has been driven only by the last request of his dead wife, whose body he observed and researched as she succumbed to the disease. Running out of fuel in the facility - which is programmed to self destruct after losing power - he is happy to join her and tries to take the group to the grave with him by sealing the facility in its last minutes, reasoning that continued attempts at survival are futile. Ultimately, he relents in letting the group at least try, covertly informing Rick that everybody living is already infected with the disease before he and one other survivor, Jacqui (Jeryl Prescott Sales) elect to stay behind, tearful as they are consumed by the inferno of the building's explosion.
