I’m not going to sit here and pretend that The Spectacular Spider-Man show wasn’t great, because it was. It was so good that the Ultimate Spider-Man show took some unwarranted animosity after Disney purchased Marvel and decided to reboot Spider-Man on TV. The idea was to incorporate Spider-Man more fully into the Marvel Universe, and to showcase lesser known characters and villains.
There are some things I don’t like about The Ultimate Spider-Man i.e. the team focus over the focus on Spider-Man, but having just finished watching season one I have to admit, I will be tuning in for season two. It’s not a bad show by any means, and if you’re a true believer, here are 5 reasons you should be watching it…
5. Paul Dini
One of the main architects of Batman the Animated Series works on the show, and that should be reason enough to watch.
Paul Dini wrote the series two part pilot and is a producer on the show. He created Harley Quinn and reinvented Mr. Freeze so well that Mr. Dini’s backstory for the character was incorporated into the comics. He turned a C-level Batman villain into an A-level threat in twenty-two minutes.
Do you think you know better than Dini?

I will admit to watching a few episodes of this show when I need a quick super hero fix. I’m also hoping to see what they do with “Avengers Assemble” after cancelling ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’.
I do believe that Agent Coulson has made an appearance in Marvel comics, I could very well be wrong but I think it was in Battle Scars with Nick Fury Jr. I don’t know for sure. Anyway, great article and I think you’ve convinced me to give it a second chance after I dumped it after the first few episodes.
I’m glad you’re going to give it another shot man. Just watched the first two episodes of season 2 and they’re great. You should definitely check them out.
Coulson (his first name is agent) is in the indestructible hulks Marvel NOW’s first issue talking to maria hill through instant messaging about the hulk and other events of the day.
