4 Main Card Predictions For Bellator 126

Can Alexander Shlemenko shake off a loss to Tito Ortiz and successfully defend his middleweight title?

Back at Bellator 120, the promotion's first and only PPV to date, Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko took on former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz in a non-title bout, and lost handily. He was out-sized, out-muscled, taken to the ground, and quickly submitted; still stunned as Ortiz began his grave digger routine in the middle of the Bellator cage. It was a fight that Shlemenko had supposedly asked for (though we won't put it past the promotion to have put him up to it), and it revitalised Ortiz's career, at least until the outcome of Ortiz vs. Bonnar in November. In the meantime, one of Bellator's most lauded champions wound up with an ugly loss on his record, and for what? To job to a fading star in a match where he was at a great physical disadvantage? Had Shlemenko won we'd no doubt be singing a different tune, and he'd have a signature win on his record. And, to be fair, he went in as a heavy favourite, and Ortiz managed to pull off what was supposedly an upset. All that said, however, it brings the question of how he will bounce back from the loss to the forefront. Shlemenko takes on the undefeated Brandon Halsey in the main event of Bellator 126 Friday night, and we'll find out soon enough: what Halsey lacks in experience he makes up for in ability and finishes, having finished opponents in five of his seven bouts thus far. Also on the card, Patricky Pitbull takes on Marcin Held in the Bellator Season 10 lightweight tournament finals. Held is a rising talent in Bellator who has a ton of upside, while the Pitbull brothers have been staples in the division. Those two fights alone make the card worth watching, so lets take a look at four main card predictions for Bellator 126
